Could anyone give me suggstions on what to use to fill sight screw holes on a Black Widow HS60 bow.
Thanks
Not sure what you mean by screw holes. If they were factory installed inserts, do not fill them.
If someone just drilled a hole in the riser, I have fixed such holes by using a wood dowel shaped to fit the hole. Apply glue to dowel, tap it lightly, let it dry, then sand smooth. Spray if needed.
I've filled some sight holes in older Bears with epoxy and covered them with small decales. Works fine and looks good. Frank
Let me put in a word for Bowdoc. This man can absolutely make the holes disappear! I sent him a Bear that had 2 holes in the black fiberglass. I would bet that you cannot show me where the holes were. He is a magician!
i've done screw holes in an old kodiak with natural wood filler.then i sanded it,put a little stain on it.then i coated the bow with healmsman spar ureathane.it turned out good.the holes were from someone mounting a quiver long ago.hope this helps, steve
If the bow has color ( phenolic etc...)
You can mix a little model paint in the epoxy to match the color.
Duco has a 2 part epoxy that comes in a syringe tube. Dont' cut the tip just punch with a pin and insert in the hole and fill. Works nice.
OR better
Like Zradix says, mix in the color first and get a syringe from the pharmacy (they sell them to give medicine to kids, tape over the tip and then punch with a pin (tips are big on these) and put the epoxy mix in the syringe and sqeeze it into the holes
Sam
Wood glue and sawdust(more sawdust than glue)mix it up and put a little in at a time. Then you can stain it to the color of the bow.
Bought a beautiful bear Kodiac cheap at a yard sale some years back. Holes drilled for a quiver, not a nice job either. I drilled the holes out and installed brass inserts, looks factory.............James
