Please post if you do - I'm having a Sarrels 3 piece longbow made that's just about to get formed up. I waffled so many times on the riser woods that I finally said - just pick something that will look pretty, have good grain, and work well with the limb veneers. Bob is forming up tx ebony and che chen to go with ambrosia (burl) maple limbs. Not really all that familiar with che Chen, so trying to picture it.
That sounds like a familiar story. This is the bow I built for over&under, because he waffled. I said maybe I should surprise you. So I did, With Che Chen.

I think you'll like what Bob is doing for you.
I was told CheChen is one tough, dense wood. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Especially considering if Bob Sarrels is making it. Great guy and he makes some great bows.

I have Che Chen in My Big River. I can e-mail pics but cannot post them. It looks closest in color and grain pattern to Rick's Hill style bow.
Man Froggy that is one of the prettiest bows on the planet :)
Thanks for the pics guys, seems like alot of variability in the wood. Looking forward to seeing how it comes out.
Thank you coaster500.... :campfire:
Chechen is unpredictable, but all I've seen had very nice color and figure. Sometimes wild, sometimes not, but it's always looked good.
Tx,
Post pics when you get the bow please.
