I just had the honor and pleasure of mounting some Bear Razorheads on fir arrows for a customer. I like a long taper for better alignment and strength so used a full 1.1" taper. He plans to use the bleeders, so I needed to cut the slots. I went to the local hobby shop and found a great little saw blade, the Excel #20013. It is .013" thick and fits in a regular XActo type handle. It fits thru the slot and did a great job cutting the wood and glue from the slot. At $3 for 5 blades, they are a deal. Thought I would share this great find. Rick

Thanks for sharin' the idea Rick!
AND - BTW - thoseare some great lookin' arras!
Shoot straight, Shinken
Really good idea. I usually just use one of the old Razorhead insert tools but, that's a better idea.
Yeah, Butch, I had about 1/2" of wood and glue to get thru and knew I wanted something more up to the task than the regular tool. The other option was to slot the tapers before gluing on the points, but I like this much better.
Great tip Rick!! That's just the ticket and good for the harder woods as well. I'll be getting some of those for my Magnus I's for sure.
thanks for the tip.i already have the xacto handle.btw nice arrows buddy, steve
Great info! Thanks for passing it along.
Most of the other brand insert blades and slots are thicker than the Bears. While checking, I found that Excel makes some bigger and I assume thicker blades, too.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Very clever idea, Rick. Thanks for that info'. Now I can put a longer taper on my woodies.
