I am new to trad archery, went looking for a used bow and found a Martin/Howatt "the stick" longbow at a price that I couldn't turn down. I am pleased with the look and feel of the bow, but the riser shelf seems very narrow, (maybe a quarter inch). I was wanting to put a rug rest on the shelf, but I'm worried there isn't room. Was wondering if anyone is familiar with this bow or has any advice whatsoever on such a narrrow riser shelf. And once again I'm not sure if its good or bad. Any opinions, advice, or comments would be appreciated.
I owned one and the narrow shelf didn't present any issues for me.
I really liked mine, it was like shooting a mini-Hill bow. I would even considering replacing it if I found one that was in my price range.
God bless,Mudd
Thanks for the info Mudd, the bummer is that i got the bow today and cant shoot it becaues i dont have any arrow that are fletched with feathers yet. Cant wait till i can try her out.
I used velcro on mine. Easy to cut and thin. Worked well for me.
I've seen guys shoot off their hand with that one...
Thin leather, stick on calf hair, or suede for the shelf & sideplate & cant the bow to shoot it.
The cant makes the riser kind of a V that the arrow will lay in. . . .
