Let me preface this post with the following statement. THIS IS A PROTOTYPE! :)
I finished this one guys. My first three piece takedown. She is the most stable shooting platform that I have played with. I had some issues with alignment, but shouldn't have the same problems with the next one. Both limbs are out of alignment, resulting in some limb twist. She still shoots like a dream! I decided to finish her out and make her my hunting bow. She is 60" NTN, and draws 51@28. I was shooting for a longbow, but like this one because she is unique. I call her my "Wassaw" semi-recurve. What do you think?

Great looker! I like the geometry. Great looking shelf too. Plus, you can spell it forward or backward and it is still the same.
Looks pallindromic! Interesting design.
oops! Double post! :knothead:
Very cool looking bow Marty!
.
Wow ,That's a step away from your usual style, I kinda like it. It has a bit of several different designs all wrapped in one....kind'a cool!
The riser is just a little too radical for me. Of course, I'm not fond of Black Widow or Habu risers either. They just don't appeal to me.
Great workmanship and I am sure it shoots like you say, I'm just not crazy about the look.
turned out great. i keep trying to figure out why the riser shape is so familiar, and i think it looks kinda like a greek sculpture i saw awhile back. glad you got it figured out though and shooting good.
Very interesting style. No exactly my thing but the craftsmanship looks superb.
Nice, I like it...
Very interesting!
Do you think you'll play around with different riser lengths? Are you planning on making a recurve/longbow option? I know too many questions!!!
Looks awesome!
Josh
I like ...DIFFERENT" GOOD JOB !!!
I just want to hold it and see how it feels. I think you need to send it to canada ;)
Workmanship looks impeccable but the riser design is not my cup of tea.
The recessed limb bolts are a nice touch.
that's the ugliest pretty bow I've ever seen. Odd but mysteriously appealing. I think all told, I like it.
Marty,
I followed along as you were developing this bow and I appreciate the extra work you did taking pictures and posting it all. It is not an easy task to come up with a whole new design from what you are accustomed to doing. I think you did a great job, especially being the first. You're talented and it shows.
Nicely done!
Regards,
Rick
Great to see it finished Marty...looks awesome!
I like it different is a good thing sometimes!
I like it!!!! when do we get one @55lbs? ;)
Very interesting!

Josh, I plan to build a recurve off of the same riser.
looks like great crafts-man-ship but i'm with Night Wing.
Marty,
Since we've spoken before and you've kinda helped me out a bit, I hope you won't take this the wrong way and all, but...that's 'bout the ugliest bow I've ever seen!
I like the limbs, but that riser has got to go!
I appreciate the feedback guys! Even the ones that don't like it. :) There is not a lot you can do when you start with this rear mounted limb platform. It is what I envisioned though, but certainly won't appeal to everyone. She really shines on the range though! ;-)

Yep, I watched the build along over on GON and have been waiting to see the finished product. You got some real talent Marty! I'll bet it's a real shooter!  :clapper:
I like it, and kudos for doing something different!
I'm going back to sleep....zzzzzz

What's "GON"?
Don't know what to think!
Very unique. I'd have to hold and shoot it to get a "feel" for it. Could be the start of something altogether new or....not. Keep going, it'll be interesting to see where this ends up.
Can you imagine what all of the longbow folks said when they laid eyes on the first recurve?
I call that "Traditional"! Why? because it is different and makes a statement all by itself. Way to go Marty! I like it. :clapper:
Marty... It is different!!! I understand the whole new aspect and thinking outside the box to get the geometry of an accurate, forgiving, stable shooting platform in a longbow.. I like it!! Not from an asthetics, side but from I bet it'll smoothly launch an arrow exactly where I want to put one in a hurry...
Can I ask you to PM me some info on getting one?
I think a little softening of the edges and a lil more styling cues, will make it more appealling, But I see this like a 1953 corvette.. It has all the boxes checked to be a leader, but just a needs a lil more asthetic appeal to make it more pallatable to the market forces that longbow shooters tend to choose form over function...
This isn't new guys. There are similar bows out there, just not many.
Did some performance testing this morning, and I am very pleased. With this riser set so far forward, it's got to be robbing me of 1-2" of real draw length on the string. I'm gonna compare it to one of my others and see if I can measure the difference. Any way, shooting 10.14 gpp, drawing 28" (as measured 26 1/4" to deepest part of the grip), with a 12 strand D97 string, and a three fingered release, I am getting an average of 182 fps. That's with an 8 1/4" brace height! :o She gains three pounds an inch out to 30", and gains four between 30-31". Not bad for a 60" bow! More testing is definitely in order here.
Those are great numbers
Wow, I love it.
Didnt like it at first BUT after studying it and lookng at allthe other features NOW I LOVE IT A N D Its at my exact draw weight and length I like to shoot Looks like One id love to put a few thousand arrows through . :-)
NICE JOB
I like the looks of it and the profile. I don't like high tech (for me personally) but I do like inovation. That riser would be interesting to shoot. :archer2:
Marty, what's the reason for setting the riser so far forward? Seems that setting it forward only enough to counteract any "torque" that would want to flip it around would be necessary.
Well Tom, working around the 6 deg limb pad angle requires a certain depth to get the geometry right. I'm considering going a little shallower on the next limb pads.
Nice. Any bow shooting, @28", 10 grains per pound over 180 is fast. Add the stability afforded by the forward riser and you have a winner. How quiet is she. Some mild r/d limbs and recurve limbs for that riser would give you the ultimate package. Bravo!
I think I would need a CNC machine to be able to interchange limbs, and that ain't gonna happen! :)
I like the extreme forward handle. Don't change a thing. I'd love to shoot that.
It's like an extreme Kwyk Styk, which can't be a bad thing.

It is similiar... But most of those are recurves and your riser seems much shorter/smaller... The benefits of the forward handle with the more svelte riser... and I like the draw of a longbow better and they are quieter...
Looks like a perfect hunting bow in the making!!!
Marty, My earlier Talons were set deep like that. I Moved the handle back quite a bit and still retain the shootability and a 6 3/4 in brace so I get a full string throw. You will pick up some more fps by staying on the string a bit longer. Good job. Your limbs look good and stable. Nice job , especially for a prototype.
