Thanks for the heads up. I'll set my DVR, as I have a habit of nodding off. But I'll watch it over coffee in the AM.

I just checked out the bow on your website, awesome bow. I don't have TV, but I've been an admirer of Dave Canterbury for awhile, even before he took off to do this show. He's quite a Woodsman. However, I am cringing at the thought of what abuse he will most likely put that bow thru. Before it's over he may be sticking pigs with it, or clubbing Gaters and such. That fella plays rough! Should be a great episode though. I hope they put some of it on the Discovery site so I can see it.

The Auto-tune is on & thanks for the heads up.

Just got done watching it, great looking bow. Love his material use for an arrowhead. No spoiler alert here. That show is great, those guys are the odd couple of survival shows. Enjoy everyone.

Watched it last night when we got in, very good show. Good looking bow.
-
He should train the hunting shows on how to call the bird in for the video shoot on the first try.
I am waiting for the show where they go at it with each other.

I was channel surfing last night and came across the show. When he pulled the 3 piece longbow from the tube-I had to stay tuned. Beautiful bow!

Just heard about this show and decided to check it out last night. I have to admit I had trouble with the turkey hunting segment. It seemed pretty staged to me. This ex-marine calls in a hen with a pretty lame improvised call and all you see is the hen in high grass. It appeared to me the bird was tied down in the brush. Also, after knapping a broadhead out of the bottom of a glass bottle ( I WAS impressed) we see the wound in the turkey which seemed round, almost like she was shot with a target field tip. That glass broadhead should have left a pretty nasty entrance would from the looks of it. I don't know, I'm probably getting pretty jaded after watching some of these shows.
-
I share some of your observations Flat, but it is a tv show. Im sure they spend a lot of money on editing, and staging some of the scenes. I mean how many of you have drawn on a turkey and had it watch you? Lol.
All in all though, I think it was a decent show that showed what it advertised. How to make due in a survival situation...
-
I watched it as well, I enjoyed the show but I think I have to lean towards calling B.S. on the turkey as well!
-
It's funny how all of us were thinking the same thing with the turkey segment. I'm sure the "average" viewer didn't think a thing about it though...

Dave has some cool YouTube vids of himself making a SlingBow, a slingshot that shoots an arrow. He eventually ends-up using a Whisker Bisket on a folding slingshot. It's not bad, I made one, and if I didn't have a bow, but did have a slingshot it would work fine on small game. He's a trip to watch in the woods, and I relate much more to his military based skills than the barefoot Hippy guy. I just can't grasp the point of his approach.
-
There is a "disclaimer" (just like on Operation Repo), at the start of the show, and after watching the "turkey hunt", I had my doubts as well, as it sure looked staged. But that bow is SWEET! And, if a non-hunter watches it, they might start to realize and or think about where all their meat comes from...LOL!
-
I just watched it on YouTube, pretty good, I liked it. The show is meant to be entertainment and a teaching tool. They simply show what things to consider and do if you find yourself in a bad spot. The Turkey was just representative of any small game that might be around. In one of the episodes Dave catches a Gator maybe 6 or 7 feet long in a pool of water and subdues and kills it with a stick and his knife.
-
Great show, my kids and I look forward to watching it every week.
Now there is a new show on discovery called,
Man,woman, wild that we really like as well.
It's host is Mykel Hawke an ex spec forces guy.
-
Dave is a great person with lots of knowledge.
Ireally envy you for being able to watch it, i can only rely on youtube...
-
Saumensch, YouTube is fine as the full episode is there, without the commercials. Just small screen though.
