Title: Carp, a Turtle, and Paint...my morning...
Post by: Guru on July 30, 2010, 10:26:00 AM
Although it was surprisingly slow for some reason, I did manage to get a couple shots...

After getting 2 shots and landing 2 fish, I went back out to the last spot I'd shot a fish to try to get another.

Half hour later, hadn't seen another fish, so I headed back to shore to get my 2 that were on the stringer and head back downstream toward the truck.

When I got about 3 ft. from my fish...a rock moved right next to them       :scared:

This guy was about to feast on an easy meal...

The fish in my left hand(bottom fish in next pic)is one of the biggest, if not the biggest,  I've shot all year.Gave me one heck of a fight!

Then as I got back to my truck I saw something else I wasn't expecting......

There were two ladies painting, and both were genuinely interested in what I was doing.

They asked was if I was hunting, or fishing....I said... "well both"     ;)

Did you ask if they could paint you in one of them?

Should have kept the turtle if allowed, best thing to eat out of a river I says.

Nice. That would be very cool if she would paint you in standing on the rocks at full draw.

Will they Pastel you into the picture?  That would be pretty cool.

I was harrassed when I bowfished on the Wallkill. Sounds like you crossed paths with nicer women than I.

Is that considered baiting      :goldtooth:

Yeah you should have asked her to paint you in there while at full draw standing out on those rocks Curt. She probably would have asked you to take off your shirt but don't be afraid of that.

RC Im surprised, as a fellow web foot I figured you would know what to do with a turtle. they can be REAL good eatin, I would think in a high country stream like where guru is they would be outstanding.

Not exactly a "high country" stream, In fact when I used to live on that river, the section I lived on was permanently brown from all the Mud.  There are a lot of areas that look like you would find trout.  It is a beautiful river none the less and has much to offer other than Carp and turtles.   :campfire:

Nice pics Curt. I do a lot of bowfishing in Lake Champlain from my canoe in the spring but am intrigued by the river fishing you do from your many posts about it. That river looks very shallow and obviously rocky. Do you find carp in there all the time? What are there favorite places to hang in that kind of terrain?

Yep turtle is great eating and a lot easier to clean than most people think.
Carp on the other hand are great fun shooting.
