Title: Youth Group Bows
Post by: Tyler2045 on July 27, 2010, 03:27:00 PM
Ok, so I got three more of my youth group interested in Trad Archery. One lefty and two righties I only have one left handed bow and it is 150# pull, and I do not have enough right handed bows for every one to shoot. What do yall recommended getting for cheap starter bows for my teens to start shooting. I also have a string maker but don't know how to make strings. I am already making the arrows for my youth group to shoot and for me to shoot (which I think is going to become a career, wood arrows break you know) any way I love it and want to share my excitement but also wanted some advice on an easy reasonable bow choice, as I am still fairly new to archery. And does any one know where I can pick up the dvd by Rick Welch, the accuracy factory, for me and my youth.                        Thanks,
                                 God Bless,
                                     Tyler Dixon

Youth really don't help these guys are teens. And can probably pull back more weight than me. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

3rivers has the DVD.

As for bows... that's very subjective.  I don't think I could suggest a specific bow, but I would suggest getting something in the 40# range.  Used would be good.  Check the classifieds, and some of the other sites.  Also check local shops.  By me there's a shop and he always has some used bows for sale.

If this is something that will be ongoing and you will have kids of different ages and abilities you might consider takedown bows with limbs in different weights.

That is a Goof idea I had not thought about take downs with different weights. Thanks for the idea. I don't know of any archery shops in the area. I have only been here about 5 months. But have 5 young men interested. One has his own bow and I have two working bows, I have to figure out how to make strings I need to make a string for three bows, my wives, the 150#er lefty, and a 50s# that needs a little work to be shoot able.
