Congratulations again on a monster fish!
WOW!!!! that is amazing ,do people swim in that lake after seeing that.
Congrats Mark, That thing is a toad!!!
Amazing fish!
A little late to second guess on shooting this big one so I think we just need to sit back and admire it. I do wonder how old it would be?
Do you have a wall big enough for it?
Congratulations! I too have never seen something that large taken with a bow. In terms of size that one is running in to harpoon territory.
If I didn't see it I don't know I would believe a fish could get that big! Nice shot.

Congrats Mark, phenomenal gar. I always thought one of those mounted over the fireplace would be cool (but expensive) I think our Taxidermists charges around $12-15 per inch.
:clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
LOL $15/inch!!
Great fish.
what state did you get her in?
That's a huge fish, I wonder what he did with that much meat?
Holy smokes! Congrats Mark!
that is awesome. Great shooting.
That thing is HUGE! not sure I would want it in the boat with me.
Yessir it was a monster but actually I think I missed another one the next day that may have been bigger, hard to imagine missing a telephone pole laying in the water, but I did and by at least a foot!! We were filming an episode for Muzzy's TV show down in TX with Jack Thatcher of Extreme Bowfishing and had a blast. I got another one on film in the 74in range as well and my partner shot a 63in gar too along with a bunch of tilapia, buffs, carp and smaller spotted gar, it definitely was a trip of a lifetime and I finally got me a gar over 200# which has been a dream of mine for ever since I shot my 1st one many years ago. I also shot her with my Muzzy reel and 150# line which many say you cannot shoot big gar with and had it to the boat in about 10-15mins, but it was definitely not without lots of tugging and running and a couple of more arrows I can assure you. I used my 54# Hoyt Gamemaster bowfishing bow which I use to shoot my alligators with and it worked very well with the new carbon arrows. Alligator gar are alive and well in TX despite the many rumors going around and we saw several while we were there. This fish is getting mounted and I hope to get it back home someday, just have to come up with the money and that is going to take awhile. The gar was 7ft 6in and weighed around 230#, can't imagine what it weighed during the spawn, but definitely a monster and trophy of my lifetime and I can definitely add that was my Muzzy Moment of a lifetime for me. Thanks
:clapper: :clapper:
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everything is bigger in Texas! Congratulations on a great fish.
Nice shooting Cpt. Ahab!
Man you sure are getting some milage outta that $5 bow! LOL! I came over to see you at the Worlds Saturday and you were busy workin on some dude's reel so I just stole some stuff outta your boat while you weren't lookin to make up for that $5 i loaned you for the raffle ticket you won it with... I only took your GPS...figured it was a fair trade.
Great gar Mark! She's a beaut!
Nice! :clapper:
That is impressive,I always wanted to do that until recently seeing a "river monsters" show on TV.Given the age of something that size its sorta like butchering a huge old snapper or a 12 foot gator, things probably older than us.Said with respect,I can see doing it once but would have no desire to keep taking things that old.Again congratulations and said with respect.
that thing looks like it could eat the boat.nice fish.wish the gar got that big around here.
That's where the legends come from! That is so COOL!!
Great shot!!
Dang Mark....if ya keep that up, along with that last gator....'I think your gonna need a bigger boat' :D
AWSOME FISH!! If That Were "Stuffed", I dont think I have a Wall big enough to Hang that Bad Boy From!! Good Shooting at the LIVING DINOSAUR FISH!!
That's a shark!Congrats.
"Whale with Teefies".... WOW, I bet that was shore nuff fun !! :clapper:
Congratulations Mark! That is awesome and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!!
Congradulations Mark!!!!!!!! I bow fished with Captain Jack in April he knows his trade, great guide and person.
Forget the bow call in an airstrike :scared:
Jack is a pro!
Dang Mike you should have said something! No problem the GPS just made me run further!!! Yep that $5 bow has definitely be getting some mileage out of me, I appreciate it!
Jack is a real pro and has been trying to get me down there to fish with him for awhile now and glad we finally did it, great experience!
Yes I am with you on shooting old fish or animals like this, I only shot 1 and was satisfied with that like my monster alligator as well, they are definitely not something you go out and shoot a bunch of and consider them as supreme trophies that should be honored and not taken lightly!
Mark used photoshop on that pic...LOL just kidding
Nice fish Mark
how bout a pic of your gator.
doug77
