Well, my highly anticipated longbow from St Joe River Bows finally arrived today. Let me tell ya, it is a one of a kind bow for me. Beautiful Purple Heart and Osage combo w/finger grooves. 64", 50 @ 29". Dave and Tracey were just above and beyond in the making of this bow and knife set. Knife is a Helle blade and handle made from the same wood combination. Communications throughout the building process were clear, trouble free and a pleasure. I give them a Ciscal and Ebert..

hey buddy real nice looking bow. :clapper:
Wow TW! Very cool. That is the brightest purple, purpleheart I have ever seen. I had a custom knife with a purpleheart handle that I lost late season one year. Whn I found it the next spring it was almost black. That bow can change color alot with sun exposure, osage darkens and the PH darkens. Most important of all, how does it shoot?
If I don't see ya elbow deep butchering a Blacktail with the knife after shooting it with the bow, then you may have to move out of Oregon sarge. Now that's an order!
 :archer2:
Ron, I'm gonna be hard after 'em when the end of next month arrives. It sure would be the icing on the cake to harvest my first with this setup!
Mike, that's why these two woods are my favorite. The darkening factor will make this a very unique bow as it ages.
This bow shoots like a dream. I set the brace at 7 5/8" and it is really driving 'em home. The extra weight in the riser is really allowing me to keep my aim steady! Should have figured this out a long time ago.
Wow!!! That's purple!!! You need some purple fletched woodgrain arrows now to match.
Awesome looking bow, I love it!!
Very Nice! Love that Purpleheart. :notworthy:
WOW!!!!!!
LOVE THE WOOD COMBO. :clapper:
DAAAAAAAAM bro to darn good lookin to hunt with!!! nice bow!
Ok, I played around with the nock and brace height. Shot 3 sets of three and on the fourth set, I shot this little group at approx. 18yds.

Man, I'm going to enjoy this bow for quite sometime! :D
Very nice!
The artist formerly known as Prince would love that one! :D
Great shooting TW Glad that bow came together just as you wanted. We can't wait for your Trophy pictures to arive this fall
Thank you again
Dave, I only had to present the idea. You and Tracey made it come together. It's a beautiful piece of work to me and we'll be spending many years aging together! I can't thank you two enough! :notworthy:
Very nice bow. I really liked St. Joe River when I shot them at K-Zoo in January. The matching knife is a nice touch.
Now thats just too cool, how many bows does that make now? you've got to save some for the rest of us
Art, I'm only going to have 3 bows. This one, a Bear Super Kodiak and a Wes Wallace that won't be here for another 7 months. I've got a Leon Stewart that I'm trying to move right now.
WOW
Hey you'll have to put a video together with some shooting! Curious to see how quiet that is being a 64 incher.
I'll bet the guys and gals at LSU are drool'in over that bow. Down this way if it is Purple and Gold it has an LSU lable on it.
Great look'in bow. Best of luck with her.
Its an original for sure!!!! Like the wolf tracks on the back and the tips are cool as well.....how about some pink TradGang arrows wraps to go with it????
I bet you are more excited about this fall. :campfire:
(also, make sure those quiver straps are on the fade outs and not out on the limb. Not real familiar with that model, but it looks like you might have them out into the working limbs).
Thanks everyone.
Good call Terry. It does look like the lower one especially is a little to far out on the limb. I've got some adjusting to do but, I'll get it there within the next week. The quiver is the 3Rivers model of the GN strap on.
I spent part of yesterday evening playing around with the Beman shafts but, I really think this bow likes my AD Trad Lites better. I put a 175 gr point up front giving me approx. 188gr for a total of 496gr arrow weight and it just loves 'em. I think this will work as I want to use my new Woodsman Elites this season anyway.
:clapper: Good to hear you are getting dialed in. I am not sure why but our bows love heavy heads, Arwin and I both shoot 200 grain Muzzy's and Tracey shoots 175 gr heads as well
It's funny, I was playing with 145 grains up front which flew well, but the 200 is like a dart!! :goldtooth:
I also notice these bows will shoot a higher spined arrow quite nicely. A 2117 out of mine (52@28) shoots great, you'd think it would be way too stiff.
Right now I'm using Carbon Express 150's with 200 up front. The 45/60 shaft flies extremely well too.
Thanks for the info guys. I tried the 145gr but, they didn't seem to fly as straight as when I put the 175gr points on. Once I get the string silencers on tonight I should be pretty much setup for this season. Just gotta put in practice time every evening 'til the last weekend of next month. :D
very nice!
:jumper:
David you made me spew tea all over my puter. Artist formerly know as Prince quote is too funny.
Love the bow.

If that holds true then I'll have to get Tracey to build me one. That Prince dude has tons of girlies flocking around him. :readit:
Not to include the money side of things. Think this bow will bring me some money?
Thanks? Just when I had my next bowyer picked out you had to go and post a picture of that Beauty. Back to the bathroom to think somemore.
Wow!!! That's purple!!! You need some purple fletched woodgrain arrows now to match.
You should paint purple rings around just in front of the arrows that you make. it takes a while but it looks great!!!!!
btw that is a copy of brinkwolfs post im not sure how to make it bold though
Thanks guys but, remember these two woods are going to darken with age and it won't appear so purple. I seen a bow years ago with this same wood combo and it was the most beautiful color. That's why these two are my favorite woods. This bow is going to be strikingly unique as it gets older!
Hang around and see!
It is a Great bow and I shot it a few time before shipping I know you will be putting some meat in the freezer with that one. In the next couple years that wood will age and be beautiful combo. I see more being ordered in the future :clapper:
It is very original and I am glad you are enjoying it TW. Hope to see a pic of it and you with an elk this fall.
You and me both Dave. Due to work scheduling and training, I'm not sure the amount of elk hunting I'm going to get in but, I will be out there every chance I get. Fortunately the areas I hunt in are bull, cow or calf so my chances will be decent if I can find them. :D
I put a set of Wooley Whispers on the string last night. I'll try and do a small video of me shooting it to give an idea of how quiet the bow is. I think I may have found my new best friend. :)
Well, here's a small video after getting the Wooley Whispers on. I am really enjoying the shootabilities of this bow. It is very smooth pulling to anchor. I need to work on my release but, I think it's because I need a new glove.

:clapper: Sorry I have not been on here sooner, I am so glad you love the bow.
David and I hope maybe we can meet up you in 2012 when we are in Portland for the PBS banquet
Just name the time and place and I'll be there, bow and all. Hopefully I'll be sending you two some pics of my first ever deer or elk this season. I gotta tell ya Tracey, this bow just fits me for some reason! I couldn't be happier. :bigsmyl:
