Hi!
Since it`s of season for many of us, I`m wondering about what arrows and broad-heads you are going to use this season?
My plan is to use Easton FMJ 340 and Gold Tip Ultralight 300 with 100 grains adapters, cut to just beyond 31"
3 X 5" or 4" feathers.
Broadheads:
Four BH`s is on the list:
From left Centaur big game head single bevel 265 grains, Grizzly el grande 300 grains single bevel, Centaur battle axe 295 grains and the woodsman 250 grains.
It all depends on which one I`ll manage to get sharpest.
Oh I`ll be using one of three bows:
(or all of them if I get the chance for multiple hunts)
DAS hunter with hex V limbs 58@30.5
Black Douglas triple carbon super swift riser with hex V 65@30.5
Or a FireFly 65@30.5
How about you? What is you going to use? :campfire: :coffee:

I have finally tried carbon arrows after being a die-hard wood arrow fan for a long time. Well, I am impressed by the carbons, so I am giving them a try this season. I'll stick with my Snuffers and Woodsman broadheads.
I also made up a batch of new woodies, just in case.
Cedar shafts and a 160gr Hill BH,I may try some of my magnolia shafts as well.
beamen ICS bowhunter 500 spine 29.5"
4" four fletch
muzzy 220 gr SS phantoms
Beman MFX 400"s with 100 grain brass insert and Centaur Big Game Heads. 29" long should weigh around 630 grains.( If they fly well). Out of a 51@27" Morrison Shawnee.
Ash Shafts painted Pink w/4X4" - 4x5" pink nana and hybrid nana feathers topped with 160grn Magnus Snuffers. These will be used for My trip to Crane Tx to hunt with 7th age. I'll post pix later.
Beman ICS bowhunters .400 spine, cut to 29", 3 5" feathers,3 gpi weight tubes, Magnus II 2 blade 125 grain mounted on 125 grain steel broadhead adapters. 625 grains, 21.5% foc. Thats how I roll.

Nice arrows
Traditional only 340 with zwickey deltas on the killin end
Going to Douglas Fir and 125gr Eclipse. Got my Bear permit for Michigan, so I will try them out in Sept.
Duane
Carbons and Zwickey's 4 bld Eskimo's and Delta's
35/55 Gold tip blem with 100 grain brass insert and a 125 muzzy phantom.
35/55 Gold Tip Blem, 50 grain brass insert and 175 grain snuffer or Woodsman Elite
I'll use either:
1. Beeman 27.5 inch MFX Classic 600's with 75g insert, 2-blade Magnus broad head, and 3, 4" feathers. 424 grains.
2. Easton 1916 Legacy modified to accept uni-nock system. 27.5", with standard insert, 2-blade magnus broadhead, 3, 4" feathers. weights 416 grains
I am also undecided for sure about the bow. Right now the priority is: Bear Supreme TD A Riser @ 47# at my 26" draw. Could be Pittsley Predator Annivesary same draw length. Or could be a Widow PSAIII at 58" if the weight reduced limbs I should receive at week's end are comfortable.
I meant the Predator is same draw weight -- of course I would be using the same draw length. Sorry
I'm going back to cedar this season with tiped with 150 grizzlies
HammerheadLites, 175 Terminator or 180 Snuffers or 175 STOS 0n 30.5" Shaft. Stalker or Zipper recurve or Longwalker longbow, 48-51#@28".

Just checked the search function here on TG and found a thread about calculating EFOC from Dr. Ashby:
I have used a wrong foc calculator from Gold Tip.
When I use the calculation I did read here
I did find out that my GoldTips have a actual EFOC of 28.06% with my Grizzly El Grande (total-weight 692 grains)
And my Easton fmj`s (total-weight 795 grains) have a EFOC of 25.37%
Guess I have the penetration issue under control.
Now I only need to get scary sharp and put them arrows in the right place :archer:

I'll be shooting the same basic arrows I've been using for about seven years now: Beman ICS 340s, 20-grain Flightmate adapters, and 125-grain Ace Standards.
Same thing I've been using for 10 yrs. 2117's with 190gr. Ribtek's or 200gr. Ace
Heritage 250's ribtek 190's w/ a 75gr adaptor crammed in there, out of a 58lbs@ my draw Mohawk
GT 35/55 trads with magnus snuffer 150.
Surewood shafts with 155 Tusker Concorde double bevel and 3 5 1/2" bright yellow shield feathers. 50-55 spine cut to 28" bop. 580-600 grains total weight. Bob
Gt 3555's 165 simmons landsharks
4 fletch 4 in feathers with reflective wrap on Carbon Express 150s and 150 gr Woodsman broadheads
Whatever shafts I happen to have in the quiver and grizzly broadheads and hexheads and bullet casings. Only the best. Hopefully I will get several dozen shafts from Twig Archery, considering the fact that I loose or blow up so many on his 3D course. Gonna get one for you this year john.
Full length GT 35/55 with 3gpi tube, 3 - 5" feathers and a Zwickey Eskimo.
Carbon Express Rebel Hunter 6075 with 4, 5-inch feathers and a Muzzy 220-grain, 4-blade Phantom...
I'll be using Carbon Express Heritage 250's full length as I draw 31 1/2", with the old 145grain Bear razor heads.
3 5" Left helical shield feathers with pink fur tracers.
I do have a question, I always like to tinker, and have tried alot of different broadheads over the years, but always end up with the old bears when the season gets close, I see some of you shoot the woodsman heads, I've had my eye on them for awhile to give a try, do they really fly as good as stated? Also do the solid heads shoot as good as the vented? Since my Carbons like a heavy head I'd probubly opt for the 160 over the 123 or 130 grain woodsmans. Thanks DK.
23/64 cedars from suzanne st. charles.125 grain grizzlys.might also use home made 11/32 cedars with 125 grain woodsmans.also have some bamboo shafts with trade points.i have been practicing with all of them and all of them are shooting great.now i don't know which i'll choose.they are all great.steve

80#-85# SUREWOOD SHAFTS-doug fir w/ 160gr Abowyer Brown Bear heads....though I have been looking at Stan's Red Feather Archery "Phoenix" 3 blade single bevel. They are a really well designed and built head!

Cool.
I'll be using tapered Chundoo arrows made by Terry Lockwood (Flimorehd) tipped with VPA 190 grs with a Martin/Damen Howatt Savannah longbow. I'll have finished pics next week!
Thanks Terry!!
I was actually debating betwen the magnus stinger 2 blade and the muzzy phantom 4 blade, any thoughts???
Muzzy. I used the SS last year and they flew nicely and re-sharpened easily.
I'm going back and forth between a couple bows but the Bear takedown is set up for these Vapor Pro's with 200 gr Grizzly El Grande's.Onestringer cap wraps and the broadheads are honed scalpel sharp with a KME broadhead sharpener.Total arrow weight is 715 grains with 425 grs up front.FOC is 29%.
If I use my 1978 Bighorn, the arrows are Gold Tips with 190 Grizzly El Grande's and they weigh 709 grs.
I have been getting my system down with the KME broadhead sharpener and have never carried sharper broadheads in the field.Only 11 days till antelope season.

Thats a good question. My problem this year is that I have bought a Treadway,ACS CX,and a ILF Morrison.I think the arrow problem is gonna be solved by using Magnus vented heads on my CE shafts weighing in @ 491 grains. All subject to change, i believe.Shooting 45 to 49lbs on either bow i think these should work out fine,I hope...
