Hunted in New Zealand a couple weeks ago and had a great time.

This is the edge of Tahr country on the South Island.

This picture was taken from the charter plane flying between the islands on a cloudy morning. The sun was just starting to come up. Spectacular!

Shot this tahr on a very lucky hunt.

This is the North Island where we hunted for red stag.

The roar was over and the stags were back in groups. Weather was wet and cold after the 90 degree stuff we were used to at home.

After a bit of drama I collected a beautiful stag.

I'm dying here!  All I can say after looking at those pics is I wanna go!  The "after a bit of drama" part's getting me the most-REALLY wanting to hear how it all went.  Congrats on some amazing animals.    :archer2:

Great going Denny! Beautiful country and animals there. I never can follow all the plots and twists in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, but I sure do enjoy seeing all the New Zealand mountains in them. What a fine hunt you must have had, thanks for taking us with you.       :archer:

well  denny ya know ya dont have to go all the way down to the south iland to hunt red stags as we do have em in the north iland and its a lot warmer. well did ya do any hunting in my part of NZ or did ya just hunt in the south? nice  deer btw.   :thumbsup:      :clapper:

Thanks for sharing Denny.  New Zealand has an unbelievable landscape from what I hear and your photographs just back it up.  Congratulations on a successful and memorable trip.

That stag is gnarly!  It kind of looks like a Pere David's deer.

Thanks everyone. This hunt was made possible by one of my hunting buddies. One of the best hunts ever for a lot of laughs, tough terrain, tough weather and more laughs.

Jeff B, I screwed up the post, but fixed it now.  :knothead:   The stag was hunted on the North Island.

Ron/shedhunter, I'm not sure   :)

Both magnificent animals, but the tahr - WOW! I have never heard of a tahr taken fair chase with a stickbow. A tip of the fedora!
