Contact Chuck Deshler at "Two Tracks". Chuck and John, who builds the Griffin, chum around together a bit.  Chuck will give you contact info.

I've got a couple and love'm, believing the Griffin is one of the best.  With a long wait for a new one, maybe John is not too eager for more orders.

I've been on John's build list since April of 2009. The last time I talked to him, which was a few weeks ago, he's still working on bows ordered in 2008. Right now he's a 24 to 30 month wait. John builds a super bow and I've had more than a few.

That is also the way to order a bow from him.

Theyre magical bows, you wont ever believe how great they are until you shoot one.I have 2 on the rack and my new one should be finished in a month or so after a 27 month wait. I think he has a few camo dips in stock if you dont care for fine woods. Johns attention to detail is very noticeable when you handle them, he is a true artist. My friend just bough one at Denton Hill after shooting it for all of 5 minutes at the risk of a severe beating when he returned home to his wife.I havent heard from him since we got back, I hope she dindnt hurt the bow.

Excellent bows and John is a fine craftsman. I believe the design is actually Ron LaClair's. The Shrew is very similar.

Excerpt from "The Shrew story"

QuoteIn 1995 I ask John McCullough whom I had known for several years if he would like to help make my Shrew bows. At the time John was making fine self bows and Grumley replicas. I had an idea for a bow that I wanted to call the "Super Shrew".  and I instructed John in this design.

They are great bows. If they started shrew-like, they have certainly evolved quite a bit. Side by side, I see no similarity other than the fact they are both reverse handle hybrids. The limb cross section, fade outs, handle, and tips are all different. I have had both at the same time, and shot them side by side. I suppose a novice might mistake them for each other.

While we're at it, why not just say the RER Vortex, Thunderhorn Heartstopper, and Hoots are all the same as the Shrew?

It'll be a nice day when Shrew comparisons don't come up in every Griffin conversation.

Papa Bear, that one in the middle pic is a 60" Griffin, 43@28, Tamo Ash with a Tulipwood riser. Sold it a while back, had three of them in 60" in the exact same weight so one had to go.  ;)

Just got in from Denton, John had so prototype Griffin Carbons.  They are carbon on the back & glass on the belly.  He made a few up without fancy woods in the riser and rather than finish they just had 'em camo dipped.

I shot a 51# & 45# 60" @ 28.  They were indeed Very Nice!  Needless to say my Griffin bow rack grew this past weekend  :)   Doc

Hey Doc,
How do you categorize your bows, by maker, alphabetically, or a card system like libraries do?  :goldtooth:

Hung out by Tom's booth for a while, but missed you at Denton . .

Larry

Ha Ha thats good...I couldnt beleive he still had it, I'm usually a day late and a dollar short. John didnt answer his phone when I called so I figgered he was gettin slammed with calls and decided not to answer any more...ten min later he called me. We talked for quite some time, a very nice guy easy to talk to. I cant wait to get my hands on that 59er

Larry,

I think John likes seeing me stop at his booth.  I had NO intention what so ever in buying another Griffin!  BUT the carbon on the back sure makes a difference...very light and responsive.  Dang I wish he'd quit fooling around   :)

PS:  I use the Dewy Decimal System to categorize my bows   :)    Doc

I've got me a TD 59'r on order for a little over a year now.  Your Momma told you that nothing worth having came quick and easy right Larry?

Well she didn't lie, McCullough's are like fine wine, built in small batches but with TOP quality.  Give John a call buddy!

Hey are you hunting the Caps this year?  I can show you my special elk calling technique if ya like??
