Last season I took out the Muzzy Phantom SS and Montec G5 broadheads. I am thinking about going to either the Woodsman 200 gr or the Grizzly 190 gr single bevel. I hunt whitetails in CT. I will be shooting wood AND carbon arrows. Most likely will be using mostly woodies this season, they seem to fly beautifully out of my new Savannah!
Thoughts, opinions and experiences? Suggestions?

Make either scary sharp and they will both work.Been using the el grande myself and have seen the most incredible blood trails. my 2 cents
I've killed deer and elk with the WW 125gr, and both the 160 and 190 Grizzlies. They all work when sharp, but I prefer the 3-blade heads for all my hunting these days.

For deer with woodies I would pick the Woodsman. I personally shoot Grizzlies on thin carbons to get the maximum penetration but I hunt big bodied elk which are a lot tougher than deer.

Haven't tried either but both should work. I use carbon shafts only now and use 125gr. 2 blade Magnus on my lite bows and 190gr. Simmons Interceptors on my heavy bows. All hair shaving sharp.
I use the 160 grizzlys on Axis shafts for elk and they work great. For deer size animals I wouldn't think it would make a lot of difference.For deer I might try 3 or 4 blade heads to get a better blood trail. Frank
Ive shot both grizzlies and WW...past couple of years been sticking with the WW, exc. blood trails. If I shot lighter equipt,<50#'s, i would stick with the grizzlies for penetration.
The new Grizzlies are 200 grs unless someone has the old ones in stock.The new ones are quite improved.I have both and much prefer the new ones.I haven't used the WW's but the Grizzlies have worked well,are tough and fly very well.
There is a little bit of a learning curve with sharpening either but there are enough resources here to help you with that.
Thanks Gents! I just re-read Wood Sanford's article "Trends in Broadhead Design" in the previous issue of TBM. It did a great job reminding me that I am hunting whitetails and not cape buffalo. Right bow I have mostly stiffer spined arrows which is why I am leaning towards a heavier, FOC tip and BH... but that said, I am thinking that the 3 blade design of the WW's would produce better blood trails. Considering I really do not need the 'bone breaking' power of a single bevel, I think I will go Woodsman! Now the questions is Elite or 'regular'... Elite's are expensive!!
Go with the regular.
They have been killing deer for years.
No reason to spend the extra on deer.

Besides the advantages of durability, quietness, better steel and precise manufacture, the Woodsman Elites/VPA Terminators offer the weight you are looking for: 160, 190 and 250 gr models in glue ons for your wood arrows. :thumbsup:
You can get the weight up on the regular WW's by using Woody Weights, but you have the extra cost, another joint, added length and none of the other advantages. Still cheaper than the Elites, tho. Everything is a compromise. :dunno:
I keep the Terminators and Woody Weights in stock. Both are great products and work very well.
If you want a blood trail go with the 160 Snuffer. You could but a ww and a half in the hole.

Fletcher is right.
For your 190grain head the ONLY woodsman choice is the ELITE.
Never seen a reason to shoot 2 blades at paper thin deer.....multi blades only for me.
Give the Snuffers a good look. They come in three different weights. I use both Snuffers and 125 gr. Woodsmans. They are both outstanding broadheads of a very similar design and price.
As someone once said, " They leave a blood trail Ray Charles could follow." That's the truth.
My two cents worth.
Woodsmans havent let me down yet. I shoot the 200gr. elites and they fly great.
If you want a single bevel AND a 3-blade you could try a Phoenix ;)
