Some time back I saved a pic of a leather side quiver someone on this forum makes that is very similar to the one offered by Raptor Archery. A couple of questions....Who out here makes em....Are they a good quiver style for hunting....And are the quivers offered by Raptor of a high quality? My arrows are cut to 32 inches and I would like a quiver that comes to the base of the feathers with broadheads mounted. Any help or comments on your experiences with this type rig would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Raptor offers very high quality goods. I have made several as well and can answer any questions if you were looking to make your own.
They are nice and versitlie but if making your own, you can make one full length to encapsulate your whole arrow for maximum protection and noise reduction.
Almost forgot to mention...the raptors do work well as long as you have a very stiff temper but lightweight leather and can make a rain/brush hood but the full length will eliminate the need for that so not as much work.

Really nice stuff. I've got a whole side set aside to make one like his full protection side kick, but something else always seems to take priority.

1. cut leather out to shape and I reccomend that you use at least 6oz. latigo or tooling leather that you can dye later if wanted

use a kitchen fork to make your border and then when you got your border use the tines to make your marks for the holes by using the border line you just traced

cut a 1/2 wide pice and glue inside at the bottom and taper the last 1" from each end and when dry finish your holes on the back side

make sure the pice is straight and fairly thick if possible..use a nail or a awl to make your holes if you dont have a handpunch and start stitching(use a heavy wax thread which you can get from various places and needles you can buy at walmart, they will in the sewing section where they are in a pack of various needles)

starting point will be the end of the taper so when the ends mate up you will be able to stitch all at once to make it neat

stand up and trace a out line on a piece of paper to get your bottom

when you get that teardrop shape you need...now cut the width of the inside pice you glued and sewn in, should be about 1/8" then you transfer that paper to a 1/4" thick of wood and use a grinding wheel to get to even and final shape

i also cut a leather plug that i glue to the wood to help muffle the sound
and then you push it down the in the quiver and by compression it will hold

you can aslo dye the wood to match your quiver which I did but didnt get pictures of

all you need to do is cut leather about 1/2 to 3/4" wide and attatch to quiver and now it will be useful for either left or right hand
