Title: gettin bit
Post by: PAPA BEAR on July 22, 2010, 01:16:00 PM
i recently acquired this hermann 3pc longbow.she shoots very smooth and i can keep a 4" group with 5-6 arrows at 20yds with her.my problem is i am getting stung every shot, like a bee sting.i have never had to wear an armguard and really dont want to start.this bow is cut 3/16 past center.is this placing the string closer? if i push my wrist inward then i dont get bit but i am no longer in a relaxed position as far as my bowhand goes.any idea's ? thanks.

Papa, you might try raising the brace height a little. Usually works for me.

Larry,

Give it 7 1/4 or 7 1/2 inches.  Lots of bows shoot best outside of the reccomendations by the bowyer.  It might be that the grip and how it sits in your hand causes the bow to torque into your arm on the shot.  Check it against your other bows to see how they compare.

You keep buying new bows and I am gonna blow you away at the Rondevous in August.  I am still shooting my twin Royals and getting tighter groups all the time.

Can you say SPLOOSH?  See you there.

when i hold the bow non drawn the string is almost touching my arm.if i push my hand out then its ok but not very comfortable to shoot this way.

You won't have any energy left treating those bee stings! Call the bowyer and see what he says. I had the same problem with a bow recently, the grip just didn't work for me, it found a new home. We can't tame all of them.  :bigsmyl:

'''''''V for victory'''''''muahahahahahahahaaaaaaa....moved brace out to 7.5 still hits me but just a little tap.i can live with that.i lost more speed than i expected though so i may just go back to 7" and wear an armguard.either way clay...you got problems.lol......

PB, Open your stance.  If your right handed take a half step forward with you right foot.
