Last year I ordered two bows from Nate Steen a.k.a Sunset Hill. A couple of months ago when my number came up, he called and wanted to know if I would be interested in having the first examples in the U.S. of two new models he had been working on - the Renaissance Line! After he described the bows it was a no-brainer as i'm a sucker for the older Hill designs! These bows follow the style of those built by Howard and John Shultz using clear and colored glass, and even a model with glass on the back only like John's "Natural" line.
This is bow #1 which arrived today and I can't put it down or stop looking at it - awesome doesn't even come close! Named "White Dragon" in reference to the bow "Green Dragon" that Howard built for Ed Hill who went to Africa with him. It is 66" long and 59@26.5, black glass back and white glass belly with an antique finish that makes the white glass look like it's 50 years old - very cool! The riser is laminated Bamboo and Myrtle with a straight, teardrop shaped grip which fits my hand perfectly and the fit and finish is flawless! As for how it shoots well you can guess if you've ever shot one of Nate's bows - the draw is smooth as silk, the cast is awesome especially for a string follow bow, and there is virtually no handshock. Needless to say i'm over the top with this bow. Nate exceeded my every expectation and I can't thank him enough! Hope you guys enjoy the pics, but I really can't take any that do this bow justice!

Here's my first three arrows from right to left 15,20, and 25 yards. I just grabbed three that I thought would be close and just eyeballed the nocking point. They wiggled a little but still got there in pretty good shape - love this bow!!

Bow #2 will be here in a few weeks. It's a glass back only like John's "Natural" bows with clear on the back, Nate's gorgeous caramelized lams, and according to him a beautiful figured Myrtle riser! Boy 2010 is turning out to be a GREAT year!
That is pretty neat...
Nice looking bow,sweet!
A real beauty, Spanky. Nate does super work. I only have one bow now, my brown back, bamboo under clear belly Sunset Hill. I guess it is time to get in line for another. I have been trying to get him out for some shooting but I know he has been trying to get bows out for ya'll. Time to hunt in six weeks!

Thats awesome bow Spanky. I bet you can shoot it too. I find myself coming back and back gazing at your bow..........that bow could be the poster child for "Traditional Archery"
