Well I think my good friend and hunting partner have decided to see what we can put together for a bowhunt in Hawaii.
Was a spur of the moment thought but know that we can't make or original Yakutat steelhead plan, do to time restraints, we are going into planning mode for January or February of 2011.
Mouflon Sheep would be our first choice with anything else coming in second.
So far all I have done is a search on here and saw the number of you who hunt Hawaii. So I figure this is a good place to start.
We are looking for public hunting with our longbows. Will be asking many questions on locations, accessability, equipment needed, weather, bugs....well all kinds of stuff to get us going in the right direction.
I would appreciate any info you guys may have and feel free to pm me or use my local email. plentycoupe@yahoo.com.
If someone may have their Hawaii packing list that would be awesome.
We have ton of gear as we live and hunt in Alaska.
Ok that is it for now. Thanks agian and appreciate all, or any responses!
Mouflon is hard to come by on public land except for Special Draw hunts on Lanai.
Thanks for the reply. That is just the first choice thrown out there. Will quickly change plans if necessary.
Do you hunt often in Hawaii?
Thanks
What Island you thinking of visiting. Re: Hunting - Not as often as I would like with this bad economy.

Also make sure you have your Bowhunters Ed Cert card with you, no certification proof - no hunt.
The June/July issue of TBH Mag. has an article about goat hunting on Oahu. The author has an instructional section regarding the Hunter Ed. Cert. You can always contact the Division of Forestry and Wildlife here or look at the website for correct info.
PC: I have a gear list for you.
Does hawaii recognize an out of state bow license? Took bowhunter saftey over 30 yrs ago.after several moves I don't have a clue where it went
I would contact them at FWP, as they can look up your ALS number or you can give them your ALS number off your hunting license here.
http://fwp.mt.gov/education/hunter/born.html
PD: No, you need to send a Hunter Safety card and DL copy with the exemption letter to get an exemption number. It has to be hunter safety bow-ed cards will not suffice.
Well, I guess I won't be hunting Hawaii then,LOL, as I took the course in NY over 30yrs ago and they don't keep records that far back.
I'm sure You can get a Hunter Safety card before Your hunt. I wouldn't let that stop Me.
