I'm going to try to make it down there.
I'll be there look for us in the trailers we rented one this year. look forward to meeting other trad gangers.
I will be there
Will do. What time does the gate open for shooters? Is there a website for this shoot?
Gonna try to make it for at least one of the days.
What are the dates for this shoot? Thanks, Travis.
where exactly is the shoot at?
Lablover, could You give more info on the rented trailers?
Thanks, bretto
Will be there Friday evening through Sunday morning. Don't know about a web site but have been going to the shoot for a lot of years. Recurve and long bow start Saturday morning right after first light and run through mid afternoon.
Self bow shoot on Sunday Start about the same time, done around noon I think.
Early rounds there are a lot of tough shots through the brush. By afternoon,a lot of the brush has been cleared out, but you have to step over a lot of broken arrows :)
The shoot is located at Savanna Oklahoma on the army ammunition plant.
I believe the dates are August 7 and 8th this year.
Lots of ticks and chiggers, and usually really hot.
It's a great shoot.
Chris Rice
I'm in. Jim, do you want to squeeze a hog hunt in after the shoot while you're in the neighborhood?
Travis, the dates are August 7th & 8th Southern Plains Trad. Shoot, McAlester, OK 405-262-7559
Damn I have drill, I'll miss it again! Looks like no hunt for me that weekend Cam.
Mods... I should have posted this in Trad Events. Sorry, please feel free to move it.
Bretto You call MWR at 918-420-7484 and reserve a trailer. Not sure any left but I'd try. they have them right at the campground where the shoot is held. They also have them on the far side of the lake I'm told. In case no one answered the question on where its held. It is held at McAlester weapons plant just south of McAlester Ok. They only allow traditional equipment on the base. It's located on highway 69 south of the city and theres a sign for McAap right on the highway.
Sounds interesting. I am at Ft. Sill untill mid-October. I hadn't heard of it before. I brought a couple of bows with me. How far is it from the Lawton area?
There is always a good turnout for this shoot. Everyone lines up at target #1 and heads out. Never been to a shoot with longer lines and wait times. Just not my idea of a good shoot. I'll be there again this year, but do not expect to shoot. At least not in the morning when its cool. Hay, maybe that is the answer. Shoot later and avoid the crowd. :archer2:
That's how I do it. Show up around noon, spend my entire paycheck at the nocking point then go shoot. But if you want to turn your scoresheet in you gotta be done by 2 I believe.
Cam, Maybe we should sneak in the hog hunt early and then head out for the shoot.
Gotta love "The Nocking Point" Cameron. Mike makes it just too easy. I'll look for you around the trailer.
