So, I had to sell off my top 3 end bows due to a family medical emergency but, fortunately this was already in the works. 1976 Bear Super Kodiak 60", 50# @ 28". Last year made in Grayling, MICH. Still hitting strong!

That's definitely a *nice* lookin' Bear!
Enjoy!
Shoot straight, Shinken
Nice looking bow . Hope all is well with your family
1976 Blue stripe, Does it say with Fascor on the bottom limb.
That sure looks just like a old bow I used to have. I traded her away many years ago and regretted it ever since.
Tracy
Nice SK! It's gonna be really happy to be shooting Razorheads. Enjoy!
Tracy, it does say with Fascor. Any idea what that means?
Thanks Rick, look forward to seeing those arrows with the heads on 'em.
TW, first and most important, I hope things work out OK on the family medical front for you.
You sure got a nice bow there. I carry a mid-70's (I think) green 45#, 60" Kodiak Hunter into the TX whitetail woods, and am proud to do so. Show that nice Kodiak some critters in OR, and if you do your part, she will do hers. Best of luck with the family's health, and enjoy shooting that bow.
That's a nice one...
Fascor was introduced in the early 70's as a performance enhancement of the Bear limb cores. It essentially is resin impregnated maple. If you look at the limb edges the cores will have a grey appearance, looking almost dirty. That is the Fascor limb lamination. On all the older Bears the limb edges were the lighter color of the maple core. Not sure how much difference it made, but they are great shooting bows.
If this is my old bow :saywhat: It's not her first time to Oregon :D We hunted up there for many years and she made the trip a few times. Always shot great for me and she can put the animals down too.
By the way I still have the old 6 arrow Bear quiver I used with the bow. It didn't come with the bolt on quiver bushings and I put them on it just for that quiver.
Tracy
Don't suppose you remember the serial number of that bow? Here is the number on this one.
SN# #KZ25886
I ain't weird or anything but, I think it would be funny that we shared the same bow as we share the same first name. :D
I wish I could remember the number sorry.
I spent many a hours setting in tree stands looking at the pretty maple wood on that bow. Never seen another one with as nice a grain.
Not weird at all, Pretty cool if you ask me :goldtooth: Oregon is a much nicer state to live in than Kansas anyway.
Tracy
I've never hunted big whitetails and I hear ya'll got 'em over that way. Perhaps someday we can swap a hunt.
Whitetails what whitetails :goldtooth:
So have you noticed yet that the riser is different from most Super Kodiaks on this bow.
Tracy
It is the first one I've ever owned but, from looking at pics of them, I notice that the throat of the grip is narrower and it has a nice rounded shelf instead of flat. This bow amazed me at how quiet it was for being a recurve. I am pretty much a longbow guy but, this is the first recurve that is as quiet as my longbows.
Yep, The shelf
Normal one

By the way, I made up some Surewood arrows a while back and did a follow along on here. They are 70#-75# spine, cut 29.5 bop, w/160gr field tips. This is the first bow that I got consistent perfect flight with them. I shot them for about 1/2 hour today and it was just driving them like tacks. I need to refletch one of them now! :biglaugh:
Looking forward to the hero picks this fall :bigsmyl:
Tracy
Very nice..I like the old bears about as good as any made today..
I do have a nice longbow that I don't shoot if ya wanna trade.. :bigsmyl:  ;)
Bill, nice to see you're still around. :D I won't be getting rid of this one for a while but, just out of curiosity, what longbow and specs.
I love these Old Super Kodiaks. I acquired one not too long ago, mine is a 65#er it too has the radiused shelf. OH Yeh this is my quietest bow I own, absolutely love the grip on mine it fits my hand perfectly.
You are going to love that bow. hope thing are good at home, God bless. TERM
Thanks Bryan. Things are doing well so far. Bow is turning out to be a gem of a shooter. I wish I had shot one of these years ago! I would have at least 2-3 of them. :D
TW, I visualize a Fir shaft with an ebony stain, white crown, blue and black crest and blue/blue barred fletch.
Wow amazing bow, i love the blue that is in the bow. The fact that it is as quite as a longbow just blows my mind. I hav a 56" black widow and it is extremely loud. Good hunting!!!!
i hope your family is ok.best wishes,steve
Wannabe,What a great looking Bow!Fletchers arrows would sure look good with her .On the pointey end has to be Bear old greenies. If you need or want some I will send them to you Gratis.prayers for your family.I mean it !Steve.

That is a great looking bow and people are still trying to copy how nice they were back that long ago.
If it could only talk.
Shoot straight
Tim
Rick, I think that would be a good combo. Thanks for the visualization.
Steve, thanks for the offer. Rick already has my "Greenies" to put on them.
Appreciate all the best wishes folks. Wife is recovering quickly and starting to get up and move around.
That is a fine looking bow. Glad to hear that your wife is doing well.
