My friend told me to make sure to bring a fold-up shovel that we may need to dig a pit-blind would not know a pit-nlind from a ground hog hole. any help
Don't bring a fold up shovel, bring a "real" shovel. The dirt around water holes can be rock hard. I will try to find some pics for you.
Bring a spud bar,a pick, and a really good shovel. If you are in an area that has sage bush,a pick ax is really helpfull. You probably need burlap as it is hard to dig really deep. Just make sure its tight so you are not seen. A double bull saves a lot of labor..
I am sure the guys at the airport want mind me taking a pickax on the plane . Yes mam I like to store this in the over head ben.
Look like I will be sitting on the ground
In WY get a back-hoe. Dont go cheap on your pick-ax or it will bend. Wish I was joking.
Jack is right on.
Be sure to fill hole when done hunting.
where are you plannig to hunt. will make a difference in what you need. Where we go in Nebraska it's all sand so real easy digging.
I watched two hunters start digging their blind 3 days before the open here in AZ [unit 10]. They were still at it 2 days after the season opened. I will admit it was a mite hot. There is a lot of hard ground out there and you have to get fairly deep if its going to work.

That's a deadly lookin setup there.Might just have to check the pit for rattlesnakes before you jump in though.
JimB...that's exactly what I did every morning. LOL
The key to that blind was digging out a comfortable seat in the desert. We dug around until the seat was comfy and I had a good backrest. I was only 12 yds away from where the goats watered. They never knew I was there.
I can believe that.That's a slick setup.
works for whitetails also. Mike
Joe, Do you still have that archery 2000 sst, or know where I can get one???
The archery 2000 was the first "custom" bow I ordered. Not real fast but a great shooter, was stolen from my garage years ago, still miss it.
I sold that bow to a fellow from Texas and ordered my first custom bow from Rocky Miller. The bow wasn't super fast, it was 58#, shot my 535 gr 2117's at 176 fps. Blew through everything I hit though.
It was a Bamford/Grable design. Very smooth on the draw though and grip was super comfortable. I'll keep my eyes open for ya Serg...
