This past weekend I had a chance to see and shoot Steve Gorr's brand new longbow model he has added to his line of great bows at Cascade Archery. The bow has been named the "Brush Hawk" and is available in 56" only at this time.
Its phenolic riser and black glass (along with red actionwood accents) give this little bow the looks of one I may have named the "Stealth Hawk".
This model was 45# at 28" and it shot my 2016's and 2114's just great. With my 29" draw, I expected some stacking, but this little beauty pulled evenly and smoothly out to 30".
I shot a 3-D course with the bow and fell in love with it.
Needless to say, I had to place an order for one in 51#, but with grey actionwood accents. By the way, I cannot remember the last time I ordered a new bow of this quality for around $500, making this one of the best deals out there.
It is fastflight ready, plenty fast, smooth and quiet, and puts the arrows right where I'm looking.
What a bow for the thick brush or a blind!
Really like the black and red. Nice lines.
Pretty bow!
that bow looks great, I love his recurve called the night hawk!
Definatly stealthy looking and Sassy looking.
You beat me to it...I was waiting to take some pics of the bows before posting (I know, I know, I will take some photos of these as well and post them).
I will have 4 of these with me at Denton Hill for guys to try and/or purchase. The weights will be 45# yew back and belly with a maple riser, 46# yew back and belly with bocote and cocobolo riser and 56# ash back and yew belly.
Like Lon, I also had to place an order for one after shooting and handling the new Brush Hawk. The one that I shot was 56#@28" and it preformed better than one of my other go to longbows that's 63# and 57" long. The Brush Hawks are quiet, quick and good looking. Perfect for treestands and ground-blinds, like all Cascades Steve has mastered the magnum length now in a longbow.
Swing by the BisonGear booth and check these out, bring your arrows you wont be disappointed! And the price on these is unbelievable!
Ang
very cool looking bow!! love the accent colors
That is a sweet looking bow. Congrats on a fine specimen of a stick. :clapper:
Nice looking bow.
Sweet, I love it, good luck with it and hope it works well for you.
I really like it. Glad to hear there will be some to try at Denton. I'm looking forward to it.
Lon let me shoot a couple of arrows with it also. I thought it shot great also. I am a dedicated DAS shooter but might have to add a longbow to my collection.
That's definitely a nice lookin' bow Lon!
Can one order it with a low wrist?
Shoot straight, Shinken
Cascade Archery is a sponsor here so you could go direcly to Steve's site and pose that question.
I believe he will be at the TBW Rendezvous at Packwood in early August and will most likely have some bows to sell or shoot.
Real nice line !! I like the color combo......
That design looks like it should smoke an arrow :bigsmyl:
Thanks for the feedback Lon!
Yea, I checked the site for information, but it is not listed yet.
Hopefully, I will make it to Packwood. I am already committed to be in Kent on August 7 so hopefully there is no conflict....
Keep the wind in your face!
Shoot straight, Shinken
Now that is a cool looking bow
Lon, nice hat!
I will have to shoot one of those bows next month in at the TBW Rendezvous just to satisfy my curiosity.
DS
That looks like a lot of bow for $500 considering the quality that Steve puts out.
I'd love one of those with double carbon limbs!
Hmmm nice looking bow, dang it.
I promised myself only one new bow this year. I'll certainly have to shoot one at the TBW Rendezvous. :archer2:
BlackHawk
Hope to have your new bow to you in Three Weeks. Cascade
Nice looking bow - let us know how it shoots. Steve does a great job.
I was going to order the black phenolic with grey accents :knothead:
Blackhawk, I thought you said that it looked pink. I guess it will give you a good reason to buy some pink feathers to match. Too bad you probably won't have it in time for the rendezvous.
Good Looking bow Blackhawk! I had one of Steve's recurves about twenty-five years ago and shot it so much I wore it out. I've been thinking I'd like another of Steve's bows and that "Brush Hawk" looks like my kind of bow.
I'm going to take one of these bows off Angelo's hands. Most likly the 56#er. Angelo and I are going to use Steve's bows in Wyoming. I will take pictures and make sure Angelo post's
them on his web site.
Robert
Looks like a shooter! It's hard to find a bow that is really great for less than $750 nowadays. This sounds like a great deal.
Good to see you are still "pulling through the shot". :clapper:
Very nice bow and color combo
I think Steve is going to use one of the new longbows this year and if he gets anything it should be on his next video.
Nice looking bow!
any idea of the speed at 9gpp@28"?
Speed... :archer2:
Rats, another one to add to the wish list.....
After I order my wife a Golden Hawk Mag from Steve I may have to order one of them. :bigsmyl:
The Bison Gear booth will have 4 of the new Brush Hawk longbows in his booth for archers to tryout at the Denton Hill shoot this coming weekend. July 23 to the 25.
Steve do you think you will have any to shoot at the rendezvous in Aug.?
These new Cascade longbows are beautiful. Steve sent me three to let people shoot at Compton and everyone who did so raved about how nice they were. I'm a lefty or I'd have bought one of them right away. I may have to order one in left-handed, soon. Tom
it is amazing a 56 inch longbow.
Beautiful bow! I love the black and red combo!!!
CCH We will be carving BlackHawk's riser this week then tillering and spraying the bow the following. He will have it at the shoot. 52 pounds 56 inch.
:goldtooth:
:archer2:
Steve what are you carving it with? I hope you are at least using a sharp knife.
I realy like the new bow Steve, it looks like it is meant for shooting from a blind, that phenolic riser will make it bulletproof.
Well done.
PS: Thanks for the magazines you sent.I will be placing a subscription to Tradarchers world.
Pete
Pete :Thanks for the kind words about the long bow I know that you enjoyed shooting Marc 58 inch model Cascade Archery will continue to develop the 56 incher. Short bows are what we do best. Glad that you enjoyed the magazine they down to earth with a lot of great archery tips,Tom does a excellent job. Thanks for your support I hope to share a camp site with you some day.
I was just wondering if any of the trad gang members had a chance to try the Brush Hawk at the Denton Hill shoot. At the time that I sent the 4 bows to Angelo (Bison Packs) Monday I will find out if any were sold. I believe that Angelo sold just over 20 of his Bison packs at the Denton hill shoot last year they are the best pack that I have ever used. I was also wondering if Tom Colstad from TradArchers World was there.
Steve:
Shooting the 58" was a delight, to say the least. The Cascade 56" will be a winner too with your input and experience with short bows. I was not surprised at all when you seized the oportunity to make it in a "special 56".
Pete
Steve, I was looking forward to shooting your new longbow when I got to Denton Hill. I looked up Angelo and there was only one left. I took it out and shot it. It was amazing. No finger pinch or hand shock. I loved it. I'm glad I didn't have enough money with me or it would have gone for a ride home. I want one with the phenolic riser. I'll be saving my money.
WOW! I'm not a short long bow guy but shooting the 58" 56# was amazing. I didn't take one of the bow's from Angelo like I said but I did shoot one. I shot 2018's at 29" and that bow really sent an arrow flying. The reason I didn't take one is because I am ordering one a little heavier. I normally shoot around 67#'s but I'm thinking of getting one around 62#'s.
You really have to try one.
Robert
Not only did I shoot the 58" 45# Barred Hawk.. I bought it! This is one amazing longbow Steve has produced. Fast, smooth, no shock, accurate.. I couldn't have asked for more out of it. Thanks again for a Great bow Steve!
-Tim Johnson
Blackhawk's bow should be showing up soon. Post some pic's when you get it.
Good news and a real test we are sending out a 56 inch Brush Hawk to a great whitetail hunter in Indiana 63 # @ 30 . John cuts his arrows at 31 inches.
The Brush Hawk 56 inch long bow should arrive in Indiana Saturday
the 14 th. The yew wood lams will pull 63# at 30 (2117 teens 0r 2018 teen should fly great.)
Beautiful bow!
nice!!
Joe
Just got thru shooting Steves Brush Hawk! Wow! I shoot 30+ inches. and it pulled smooth as ever.He surprised me with a bow 62# @30" and beautiful birdseye maple limbs.Kept all shots in a 3x3" white piece of cardboard at 17 yds.I can't do that with my 'favorite bow'.Shoots right with my 67# longbows. Now I need a heavier one for nice weather!!!
BEAUTY
I just talked to Steve this evening and couldn't resist.Hes building me a 56 incher ,with the black Phonelic riser ,clear glass and Yew limbs with the red accents 55-56# @28".Can't wait.steve was saying the nine of so hes sold the owners are just raving about them.
I have delivered the second 56 inch Brush Hawk to archers with a 30 inch draw and both have been thrilled with them. One was 60# and the other 62# at 30. Both archers ordered a second Brush Hawk. The bows range in price from $ 465.00 to $ 485.00.
Hey guys ,Anyone have any new pics? Love to see em.
Yes, some new pics. would be great.
i don't see these on his website? am i missing something? i may just order one.
that is one nice bow, enjoy your shooting! thanks for sharing it. Ken
Just back from Wyoming where my best friend and hunting partner Rob (BoboNJ) had one heck of a trip! He got his new 56", 62# Cascade Brush Hawk Longbow as soon as we pulled into Wyoming, like a kid at Christmas time packing material flying all over the place and then viola! It was love at first sight. Rob grabbed some arrows and we went stump shooting where he cleaned my clock, he couldn't miss and did I mention that his new longbow was fast, faster than my recurve!
Needless to say that bow was now promoted to his main hunting bow. Within 3 1/2 days of hunting Rob managed to kill 1 buck Mule Deer and two Antelope bucks (I had the honor to be there to witness two out of the three kills, first was a great stalk on a couple of Mule Deer and then I was in a bowshot of him and saw the kill of his antelope), these are the first animals killed by Cascades new longbow...CONGRATS to both of my friends, Rob for being the first and having an awesome hunt and then to Steve for producing such a fine longbow.
Rob, Steve and Denny I just want to say Thanks, this trip was great because of you guys, my stomach still hurts from all of the laughing.
Enjoy the pics and maybe Rob will chime in on this thread.

Nice looking bow. I love the nighthawk. But I love longbows. I will be calling ya Steve. By the way I saw my photo in the new mag. I love it and its nice to see people I know even if it is me. The articles are great. I also am like Lon I love the look of the red in the bow.
When will be able to order one off the website?
Not sure when the site will be updated, you can call Steve direct and order one, he has made quite a few already for people calling in.
Angelo speaks to highly of me. But he is my hunting partner. And finding a hunting partner that appreciates life, love, and family the way I do is rare. We are two different people living the same life.
Steve's new Brush Hawk longbow is unbeleivable. When we reached Wyoming the bow was there. I couldn't open the bow tube fast enough. When it came out, it was exactly what I had pictured in my mind. When I spoke with Steve he said it was 65#'s at 29". Perfect weight for me. I had 2018's for this bow. And "Oh My God" it is lightening fast. The arrows were flying like darts. The bow draws back smooth with no stacking and when I released the string there was absolutely no hand shock. The design is perfect. From the first shot stump shooting to the last kill I made in Wyoming, the arrow went exactly where I wanted it to.
Angelo, get the durby and I will where it on our next hunt.
(Arby's chocolate shake)LOL inside joke
Rob
By the way Angelo didn't post how he did. He shoot two Antelope's with a 48" Cascade. This was an exceptional trip. We were figuring on maybe 1 Antelope each. But coming home with 1 Mule Deer and 4 Antelope was a dream trip.
Rob
Rob and Angelo, Denny ended up taking two antelope and a buck mule deer. The deer was about the size of Rob's, a three by three also. Last year I had 6 buck deer come in to water and I didn't buy a tag. This year I bought the tag but nothing came in. How do they do that. I had to shoot over the heads of three antelope does to place my arrow through both lungs of the antelope buck that I arrowed. It is the best video harvest that I have ever viewed. Ahgelo How about that 196 Whitetail buck that Denny arrowed in Canada. Your packs worked great on this wyoming bowhunt.
What a great hunt!
Thank you for sharin' and I hope to test drive one of those Brush Hawks some day - in a lefty!
Shoot straight, Shinken
Thanks so much for the great pics and congradulations.Hope to have my bushhawk real soon.
Nice pictures. thanks for sharing them. Nice bow, I am a fan of shorter bows myself.
Any plans for making them 60" long?
"Dear Santa,
I would like a Fine Cascade "Night Hawk" Please see the Pictures I have Enclosed........."
Excellent Bow Buddy!!! :archer:
Very cool! Congrats on the hunt guys.
Part of a hunt for me has allot to do with who you share camp with and let me tell you that Rob, Steve and Denny are about the best you can get.
Steve, that buck that Denny shot in Canada was a TOAD! and what about the 175" not too shabby either...only in my dreams right now.
The only thing that would have made this trip better would have been if we would have camped out like originally planned but after truck problems the day before leaving we we forced to leave the trailer at home and repack whatever we could into a little jeep...gotta role with the punches.
Looking forward to hunting with you guys again real soon.
Snag, Steve does have a 60" model. But this little 56" is the one of the best shooting longbows I have shot. It is smooth to my 29" draw and hits where I look.
Granpa, Congratulations on your hunt. It looks like you guy's had a great time. I wish I could have been there.
Snag I have sent two of the 56 inch brush Hawk's to bowhunters with 30 inch draws and both of them ordered a second Brush Hawk.
If you do need a longer bow I suggest the 60 inch Silver Hawk it was our number one longbow until this Brush Hawk came along.
angelo, rob great job not bad for a few old men!Steve,Aidan and I just came back from our bear hunt Aidan scored on a big bear first day.I passed on a few boo boo bears and steve well lets say he missssedddd!have a great rest of the season!
Jose I will take your new Brush Hawk in my carry on when I come down to hunt whitetails November 1 st. It came out 58 #. Yew limb core.
What is the recommended brace height for the Brush Hawk?
Steve you can't take time to go hunting you need to get my new Super Brush Hawk ready. Just kidding. Got to take a little down time every once in a while.
Is it cut past center or can one have it cut past center?
good looking bow.
thats one beautiful bow.
Steve has to get out and hunt sometimes so he can get more footage for his next video. Hopefully he will have some shots with the longbow in it.
Steve D the bow is not cut past center and with it being so small I don't think there is room to do so.
cch,thanks for the info.
What is the recommended brace height for the Brush Hawk?
I have been talking to Steve about the Brush Hawk, and I think it just may be my first longbow. I will see if it can convert me from recurves... LOL; I really just need an excuse to want another bow.
Scott,
i just checked the brace on my BrushHawk and its 7 3/4".
i love the look of that bow
Looks like you're going to have to buy some more arras!!!!!! :clapper:
kybowman
granpa....Thank you for the feedback.
Anybody know the approx. wait time on one of these bows?
I just ordered one from Steve he said 60 to 90 days. Not bad but I cant wait!
Jesse, how did you get in touch with Steve?
I've left a voice mail and sent an email but I can't seem to make a connection with him.
My Brush Hawk shoots best at 7 5/8 and 7 3/4 65# @30".Great hunt guys!!
amazing who thought we would ever call 56"
a long bow.nice looking
Bowmag, Try calling him after 5pm pacific time. He has been really busy and is going to be out of town this Friday.
yep...a busy man. :archer2:
I believe he works 10 hour days, 6 days a week, on another job, church on Sunday, then there's family time, hunting, working on bows, making videos.
Dang, the guy must not sleep. :dunno:
Lon,
Thanks for sharing, I also appreciate the pic of you at "full draw"--Inspiration my friend, inspiration :)
Kevin
Thanks for the tip, Jesse.
I'll try him tomorrow evening.
Must be lots of good vibes out there. Just as I was about to call Steve this evening, he returned my call. He sounds really excited about this new short longbow, as am I.
Deposit goes in the mail tomorrow then the wait starts. Hope it's not to long. Need to show Gene and Barry that I don't always miss the hogs.
I an going to Texas to to bowhunt the little gray ghost. They are the best stalking that you can imagine. Last time I took one out of a herd of six then had to jump off the trail as two ran by. Angelo put me on to Carr Hart pants with double cloth on the knees. The best for crawling in sticker bushes.I will be back to answer your questions on November 6 th. Steve
Good luck Steve, hope you get some good video.
Steve delivered my new "Brush Hawk" this past weekend, and it was everything I had expected it to be. This little magnum 56" longbow is a smooth drawing, fast shooting piece that looks great.
I selected one with the phenolic riser and accent stripe with yew limbs. An additional add-on was the curly bubinga veneer on the back.
Steve says these little bows have quickly become his best seller...and it's not even on his website yet.
BTW, I believe Cascade is offering this bow at a very attractive price. It just goes to show that one does not have to spend a lot of money to get a lot of bow.

Very impressive, excellant bow.My hat is off to Cascade!
An enticing design!
Please correct me where I am in error. I was under the impression that the Cascade bows weren't fastflite compatible. This bow appears to be designed to utilze a fastflite type of material.
Dang, Blackhawk, that sure is purty.
But it doesn't do anything to make waiting for mine any easier.
Congrats on such a good looking bow.
The Cascade Brush Hawk is Fast Flight compatible.
The only bows in the Cascade line that do not take fast flight are the 48 and 52 inch recurve. The Brush Hawk comes with Fast Flight string. The Whitetail Hawk and Night Hawk in 56,58,60,and 62 inch length will accept Fast flight.
Grandpa and 52Mag -- Thank you for answering the Fast Flight inquiry
Blackhawk, I got to handle that bow right after the finish dried. I can't wait to shoot a couple of arrow through it. Those limb veneers are beautiful!!!
Nice bow! Does that have a little palm swell for bow hand and is it centershot? I love all my nighthawks and whitetailhawks from cascade !!
WOW! That sure is nice looking! I cant wait to get mine!
The Brush Hawk has a pronounced locater grip without a noticable palm swell. It is close to center shot, though not cut quite as far as another top longbow, the Centaur.
I have to admit that this Brush Hawk is now in the same league of bows as the Griffin, Centaur, and Shrew, but it has a more attractive price tag.
Nice bow Lon ... I like the idea of phenolic in the riser, those short bows can be too light for me and the phenolic might just add the right amount of weight to be steady in the hand.
You picked a great combination of materials.
Happy Holidays, Ken
Awesome looking bow.
Can't let this post die,to much interest !
Steve sent me this gorgeous Brush Hawk that pulls 55#@28", handle of cocobolo and limbs of yew with figured bocote on the back. Nice looking and nice shooting. It's a keeper for sure! Tom

Beautiful bow!
I am relieved it is not a take-down.
If it was, I wouldn't be able sleep.
What a refined look!
Just a quick note. Roy from Little Ridge Archery in Gasport NY. Just ordered two Brushawks. One 55# and the other 51#. I will be shipping them the Monday after Christmas.Looking at Tom's back yard photo it looks like the Packers will be playing in snow the rest of the season. All archers should check out Tom Colstad's traditional archers magazine ( tradarchersworld.com )
Now that's a good lookin' bow!!!!!
I don't know where Steve finds his woods but he seems to get the best grain available. Every bow I have seen of his are beautiful.
That is one good looking arrow slinger!
Little ridge Archery in Gasport NY. has received the two 56 in Brush Hawk long bows. Archers can try out the bows in Roy's indoor range. I shot the two bows before I sent them and they are silent shooters. Just a very quiet bow, they both have Fast Flight string.
Lucky man, thats a really good looking bow.
look like a check mate attila with long bow limbs. very nice
Anybody else have pics of their new Cascade Brushhawk?
I should have one in the next few weeks. I'll post pics when I get it.
Just when i think there's not another bow out there i wouldnt mind having....
I couldn't take it anymore. I had to call and order one like "Blackhawk" (Lon's) bow. It's going drive me crazy waiting for this one to arrive.
hey suburbanirma I know a south paw who;d love that bow if you get tired shooting it. You guys got steve so busy I am still waiting for my second set of limbs for my cascade recurve!
I don't see this "Brush Hawk", 56"er, on his website....?
It's not on his site yet but you can call Steve and talk to him.

Cant wait to see the pics!
Would love to see pics.
Will be sending 4 new Brush Hawks this week.
There will be 4 Brush Hawk bows at the Waterloo Trad sport show .
Show begins March 4 th. One of the bows will be left hand 50 #. cocobolla with yew limbs.
Nice shootin.
I got mine Saturday. Just before leaving to hunt pigs on Sunday. Just had enought time to decide which arrows to use. But this baby is sooooo smooth. It's 45# at 27" but feels like 35#. Really anxious to get the proper arrows selected. I'll post some pics but right now the wind chill is 0 and I want to get them outside.
March 4 th to the 6th there is a traditional sport show in Waterloo Iowa. Cascade Archery will be set up in the 20 foot long Washington State Bowhunters booth. Also in the booth will be Lon Scott with some of his Bear bow collection. Event is put on by Trad Archers World magazine.
Oooooh!!!
Love the way it bends!
Cascade sent a 70 pound Brush Hawk to Jess in Idaho. He is a elk hunter for sure. He also sent me some trail cam photos of several 300 # pound bear. I shot a few arrows before it left the shop, the bow was silent.
