Can anyone tell me anything about the Dryad Orion three piece longbow?
I really like the looks of them and the price seems right.
The only other longbow that I have shot is a widow one piece. So I really have nothing to compare.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
John
I have one and I love it! It is very smooth, with no stack, at least to my 28" draw. It shoots exactly where I point it. The grip fits me perfectly. It is fairly small, and since I have short fingers, it is the right fit. It is pretty fast I guess. I don't have a chrono, but it seems to get the arrows there pretty quickly. It is also the quietest three piece bow I have shot. The riser has good mass, but is still light enough to feel like a longbow. I would highly recommend it. My Orion and my 46# Kanati are the two bows that I won't part with, and I've parted with quite a few. I also love the looks of mine. It has a cocobolo and myrtle riser and dirty boo limbs under clear glass.
I think you could pay a lot more and get a lot less bow. Here are a couple of pictures of mine.

I had a 56" Orion 50@28. Fit and finish were great, they have one of the best grips you will ever shoot. Smooth draw, no stack or hand shock, just a real nice bow at a good price. At 10gpp expect to be in the high 170's.
As mentioned above, the grip fits small hands or short fingers well. The 3-piece design has the added mass weight for increased stability/balance, but the Orion is still quite light overall (I have the 15" riser) and I don't feel I'm dragging a heavy bow through the field--therefore the best of both worlds (stability and relatively light weight) in my opinion.
I do not own one, but just shot one this weekend. The bow belonged to someone else I met at ATAR and he was kind enough to let me shoot it...and it just happened to be a lefty. I only shot the bow a few times but was very impressed with it. It was a really smooth drawing and shooting bow and as others mentioned, I also really liked the grip.
My Orion is my "goto" bow.. Beautiful, fast and whisper quiet. The bow just shoots where I am looking... Wingnut makes a superb longbow order a bow from him with NO worries what so ever..

I love mine! The Westvangs are great people to work with. Customer service is great and the bows...even better. I've been trying a lot of different longbows as of late and have yet to find one that keeps me from shooting my Orion for more than a day or two. Mine is curly myrtle and Goncalo Alves riser with bamboo limbs covered with spalted curly myrtle veneers. 15 inch riser 63# @ 28". It is also the only 3 piece longbow I have ever owned, and did I mention that I love shooting it, very smooth and very quiet.
