Title: Tired of Tinkering...
Post by: twostrings on July 11, 2010, 09:48:00 PM
Anyone else counting down the months until the season opens? I have everything shooting great, but deer season far away.

Question: What do other bowhunting Texans do during this Hot time of the year?

20 days for us in S Florida! Good lord, I'm not ready! Actually, I'm in pretty good shape but want to get another couple of stands out tommorow. I've got a bunch of does showing up on my game camera and one really good buck had the nerve to lay in a scrape 15 yards from one of my hog stands this weekend. Gonna be a loooong 20 days!

Monster hot to do much of anything until real early or late in the day. GF rides her horses a lot in the woods watching for one special deer I found tracks of 2 years ago. Never seen this fellow but his big heavy feet dwarf competition. Hope to go for hogs this week sometime.

Sweat my backside off hunting pigs, and filling feeders, and building new blinds. Oh yeah, I think I sweat a lot if I'm just standing outside. And I shoot a lot of 3D this time of year also.

Bisch, you said it right when you wrote: "Oh yeah, I think I sweat a lot if I'm just standing outside."

I think I lose a couple of pounds of water weight every day!

I'm moving to Fredericksburg, Texas in 4 weeks. I'm going to hunt year around. Moving to a great ranch to help the owner with the hunters. First thing I'll be hunting for is the A/C..... It's a bit cooler than here though.......

5 weeks for me until archery season opens. Lots of ground blinds to build, stans to hang and tons of scouting to do. I don't have a whole lot of time to waste now but I'm sure I will have a few fishing trips in before the hunt. Desert dude; I happened acrossed fredericksburg a few years ago on a random drive with my wife and I took. It sure seemed like a real nice town, everyone we meet was real nice and inviting . I had 3 offers to hunt while I was there but didn't have my bow.
