AHHH,,if I remember right my buddy, Jacobsladder (Steve). He's been using a type of hot glue from the home depot with amazing results, Maybe he'll chime in on the exzact name of the glue. I'll PM him this link..

Ferr-L-Tite works good for aluminum inserts, but I find for glue-on points it becomes too brittle as time goes on.I take a 1/16-27 NPT pipe tap and put some threads on the inside of the point for grip and use a white colored hot melt.I've used Saunders hot melt and the hot melt that Black Widow sells. It is better and is more pliable then Ferr-L-Tite.This is what has worked for me,I got the tap at a machinist supply you probably won't find it at the local hardware store.

I've been using Gorilla glue for the tips. Works good so far. Can be heated up to remove too.

I've been using hotmelt from joanne fabrics craftstore.. If you go to the craft store and look at the back of the different packages...some are rated better than others... I use the best one they have...its like 3.00 for 25 sticks...I havent had a point come off yet.. but i havent used these in exteme hot or cold conditions yet either..all ive been doing is running a lighter flame inside the point to burn off any excess oil... so far ive had great results...

I use goat tuff glue from kustom king or Tim's archery supply and have never had a tip come off yet. The good thing about it is it is like super glue so you dont need heat or anything to apply it but it is hear reversable.

WW- you said "burning out". Hope you dont mean burning the alcahol out after cleaning, as the soot will fill the point, and not let the glue adhear. I clean them out as you did, then take a piece of heavy grit sandpaper and rough the inside just enough to let the glue have a good holding area. Use ferriltite and have not ever lost a point.

jacobsladder,
Me too. I thought I would try some out just for the heck of it. At first I tried the normal stuff that my wife had around the house. This didn't work so well. Then I found some that said something like "high temperature", "extra strength". This works good. Have yet to have a point come off with it. I always scuff up the inside of the point with a small cone of sandpaper first.
It's just one of many things that let me practice "trad" inexpensively. For the price of one stick of ferrel tite, you have a large supply that will last a long time.

poekoelan... i think it's the best deal going ...works like a charm! the craft store i went to had like 20 diffent packages...i just picked the one that said high temperatue and adhered to the most stuff... cant beat it for the price.
