Who uses B50 on a bow that will stand up to FastFlight, other than me? My custom came with both kinds of strings. The maker recommended B50. I tried both. The F/F was loud, and would not tune perfectly no matter what I tried. The B50 is quiet, and tuning is so perfect that in 2 years of daily shooting, there is no visible wear on the rest or sideplate. I know I'm loosing fps by using B50, but my arrows still give me complete pass thru on whitetails. Is there such a thing as slower but better?
Others will disagree but I am with you. I have B50 on all my bows including the ones that came with some type of FF. They all shoot better and quieter for me with B50. I don't mind a loss of a couple of fps.
If you are getting complete pass throughs and your bow is shooting well then why would you want to change? My thoughts are that if you can't get the bow tuned with FF and the bowyer recomended B50 and it works, why worry? Speed ain't everything.
Y'all are certainly in the minority. I don't particularly like ff but 450+ and Excel works good for me. I use B50 on my old bows though :wavey: ...Van
B 50 works well on my old collector bows too. The rest get HPME including new bows, self bows and old shooter bows.
For me, the non stretch string gives a crisper shot and far less
hand shock on almost all bows.

The only bows I shoot B50 on is my older recurves,all others I use a FF type string whether it is D97,450+ or 8125.On longbows B50 can increase handshock,feels springy and not solid.I have no problem getting FF type strings quiet.On my Hill it is quieter with D97 then with B50.

Can slower be better, yes, it can.
Slower usually can be more quiet. it can be more accurate if you have release or form issues, it can be more forgiving.
I have compared many bows using fastflight and dacron. Dacron was slower by 4-5 fps on some and up to 10-11 fps on others.
I can add arrow weight if I want slow. :) I use b-50 for sewing up stuff and tying on nocking points.It works a lot better for it than it does for bowstrings. ;) I shoot lighter weight bows and don't need to take a 5-10fps handicap just because of a bowstring that adds vibration to my bows.jmo
I'd shoot a FF type material (Dynaflight '97 or Formula 8125) if it were a little slower than dacron. The tiny speed increase doesn't mean squat to me. I like them because of the reduced stretch, reduced creep, and increased durability. I haven't gotten ahold of a bow yet that I couldn't get hunting quiet with Dynaflight or 8125 with minimal silencers.
I'm using B50 on all my bows even though are rated and some even came with FF.
FWIW, back when original FF and dacron were basically your only choices, and back before I understood what makes a good string, I preferred dacron also.
