Title: footing carbon arrows?
Post by: shortstroke 91 on May 09, 2007, 06:22:00 PM
Was wondering if anyone knows what size Aluminum for footing the "Carbon Fury" that you get from Bass Pro? These use the same size brass inserts from 3 rivers as most other carbons, if that helps. Also wondering where to get just 1 or 2 arrows to do this with since I really don't need 6 or 12? Can I use 5 minute Epoxy or is something else better?

Thanks to any and all who reply.

2117 if it is a "regular" size carbon arrow...ala GT, CE, CT, etc.

Use slow cure epoxy (24 hr type)....better bond with more shear force resistance.

I'll second the 2117...
For glue, I use Bohning Powerbond or, on occassion, gorilla glue. Have yet to have a footing come off...

check the outside diameter with a caliper...add a few thou for glue space...and check your measurement against the charts found here:

I tried 2117 and they were too small but the 2216 fit pretty snug so I'll try that tonight.

I use 2216 "foots" about 1 1/4" long on front and back end of my Carbon Express Rebels...Try some arrow wrap instead of glue...That works for me...

Good Luck!
