I would say weaker, the reason is ..You can build out the plate to get great flight. Meaning it would be better to fine tune a weak spine arrow then a stiff spine arrow..

I like stiff.  You can then add more weight up front and increase foc.  Even when I shot a wheelie bow, I began tinkering with going one spine stiffer and loading up the front with more weight.  Then I switched to a recurve and done the same with great results.

Just what I prefer though, and I am no expert.

With a weaker spine you can only build out the arrow shelf so far before you run out of usable shelf (on most bows). I personally would rather have arrows that are too stiff. I can do more with my setup to get good flight. Brace height adjustments, add point weight to the arrow, maybe use a better performance string. Or any combination of adjustments mentioned. I can accurately shoot an arrow that is too stiff. But for me, I have trouble with consistant accuracy using a weak spined arrow(especially with a broadhead attached). Now if your arrow is too weak you still have some options in reverse of adjusting point weight to lighter points, brace height adjustments or if you are shooting a performance string you can back off to Dacron strings. You can also add more strands to the string to decrease performance to allow the weaker spine. Still I like a stiffer arrow because I think it assists with the column strength of the arrow and aids in penetration for hunting situations.

I personally would rather have the spine just right.

either can be just rite with good tuneing ...i like heavy to get more foc and i have a long draw. so my shafts are longer hence less spined . for example . i shoot 63# @30.8 inches my arrows are 31.5 and i shoot a 2216 thats spines out at 86# it flies perfect with 155gn up front or 225gn. both fly great.

Why stop before the job is done. If it's close you're 95% there..
