I will have a booth at Denton Hill again this year and will be picking up bows for the Bow Hospital.
Save the cost of shipping and drop your patients off for refinishing and weight reductions.
I will also have some bows with me that I have refinished so you can get an idea of what your bow will look like when complete. Some used bows will be for sale, along with the normal packs, hats, etc.
Stop in for a visit :campfire:
ttt
Love to come and look Whip but can't make the trip. Good luck with your all yours patients Doc!!
I will be there Whip. Check us out at the Brotherrs of the Bow booth with Gene and Barry. Mike
Looking forward to seeing what you've got yourself into Whip ;)
Paul, are you camping? Do you need a spot saved? Irene and I are planning to pull in early and will be happy to save you a spot.
Mike, are you coming for No Neck Tommy's Count Neck steamers?
Good to know. I have a '68 Super48 that needs some TLC. Thanks for the heads up!
There will be another Doctor at the camp site in case Dr Whip needs some surgical help ;) See ya'll at Denton...Doc
Looking forward to being around your camp WHIP.I have invited quite a few folks to hang around your encampment :-)
I'm camping Whip. Need a spot. A 20X20 Canopy plus tent. Have a camp kitchen and table for camp if needed as well as Tippets two burner flame thrower. You bringing the dutch oven  ?
Plan on arriving Wed.
I'll have a dutch oven along.
Dutch oven??? My wife hates those. Sorry couldn't pass that one up.
Joe does an AWESOME job with the Bow Hospital. He just redid my deceased grandfather's '49 or '50 Grizzly. It was a basket case when I gave it to him and came back to me in showroom new condition. I've been meaning to get some pics up, but have been swamped at work :(
He also just did my Longhunter. It looks like new again. This bow is officially retired. It has proven itself over the years as a killin machine, a wading staff, something to hook and pull stuff out of the back of the truck with, can be dropped from a tree when you forget your rope, checking the depth of a slough, swatting rattlesnakes when you've run out of arrows, etc.
Joe, don't be humble. PLease post the before and after pics!
Here you go Biggie. This is a bow that has paid its dues and earned a spot on the wall!

Obviously two different bows! NOT.
I saw Joe's work on Steve O's grandpaw bow. Saw the before when it was handed over at Kzoo and saw the after at Compton. It was just as much a rebirth as Biggie's bow above. Kudos Whipster. Wish I was going to be at Denton. On of these years...
Unbelievable!
How do you guys like my duct tape arrow rest?
QuoteJoe, don't be humble. PLease post the before and after pics!
You sure can tell who RUNS a company and who is a poor working schmuck :D I never would have thought of having Joe post the pics! Maybe I will be able to get to it tomorrow...
Steve..........your avatar? Not your good side.
Which side is Steve's good one? I've never noticed a difference. :p
I have the before pics of your bow Steve, but didn't take any afters :knothead: And I sure didn't want to post the "befores" without them.
I'll show mine if you'll show yours.
Awesome work Whip ! If we ever have a patient I know which hospital she will be going to for attention.
When you are cooking around the fire late at night think of Mason, Skyler, and I as you are staring into the coals and digesting those elk steaks ! wished we could attend all the great shows around the country with ya'll.
Joe, are we supposed to ask for Doctor Whip when we bring our bows in? Ha! Ken
Very nice work Joe. Biggie you should be reported for bow abuse to BPS(Bow Protective Services)
Whip- I wiil try to make it to "no-neck"
Dang Whip,
I was sure you'd have to re-splint Biggie's bow that was held together with Duck tape :) Doc
Biggie--That was a COMPLIMENT
So, here is probably the best looking part of the bow before Joe got after it. This poor thing had some kind of paint and tape that turned into some nasty tar like substance after baking in my Grandpa's attic for the last 50 years. I knew it was going to take more time and expertise than I had available!

If I get home from work before dark tomorrow night, I'll get some after pics up.
As far as my avatar, that reminds me of younger days when I could bowhunt all I wanted AND bird hunt all I wanted. That was Friar Tuck, a very, very good German Shorthair. I'm sure he will be the best pointer I'll ever own. Miss my old buddy :(
Lookin' forward to Denton Hill. See Ya'll there.
Hey Doc Kevin, that's 25 years of "in the field".
I'm bringing this back up cause I was just chatting with DD Quillian, Dan's son. Talking about the freeman rounds on Tuesday nights at the shop. Shooting some of the 1st 3d courses in the south, how young we were and full of ourselves. I was getting all choked up. I'm not usually one to be moved by "things" but what Joe did to my old Longhunter has thrown me back to a day and time I'll always cherish and never forget. They say you can't go back..........but you can 8-)
THANKS JOE!
I'll start a new thread with more pictures, but here is the same area of the bow AFTER Joe worked it over:

None of the before pictures Joe took do any justice to how really bad of shape this old bow was in.
Thanks Steve and Biggie - it sure is nice to hear kind words.
By far the best part of this bow hospital gig is when I get a chance to work on bows with a history. To bring them back to as close as possible to what they used to look like is a real treat for me. Those bows from you two guys are about the most special I have had a chance to work with, and I really enjoyed it. So glad to hear that you are happy too.
Hey Whip, I got the BreezeBuster today. Looks great. My grandson will love it. Thanks for a great job, and great service.
Mike
I will bring a bow for you to look at.
I am not sure I want it refinished or not, I want your opinion.
Sounds good John - I'll see you there.
Joe,
I'm looking forward to picking up my bow(s) at Denton. See you there!
Your bows are boxed and ready for the trip Erik. I'll see you there!
"Doc" Joe,
If you keep up the fine work with your bow hospital, you'll never need malpractice insurance. The refinish job on the Kwyk Styk is great. And what a difference taking off 5 lbs makes -- it is a pleasure shooting with the lighter weight.
Thanks again,
Larry
Very impressive job Joe
