Matty, I've been wondering the same thing.  There is something on Tradgang called "Topic Subscription" but I can't figure out how to use it.  Maybe someone else will jump in and enlighten both of us.

That allows you to stay involved in the tpic and get e-mails when there is activity to it.  I only do that when I post a topic. Like this one.  Otherwise you get a trillion e-mails till the post dies...or unless you un-sbscribe

I have printed many threads over the years including the original board bow threads by Tim Baker from that "other" trad forum.  I even have some prints of threads from before most of you had even heard of the internet.

Perhaps one of the mods will comment on their archiving processes here.

There isn't an option to save your favorite threads here. However alot of the big threads get moved to the archives after they have ran their course. We try to save all of the real big threads or speacial hunt, buildalongs, ect. Sometimes we may miss one. If there is a great thread that we have missed you can always pm one of us and if we agree it'll be saved. You can find the topic archive by scrolling towards the bottom on the main page or click here,  http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?category=7

I have a Gigabyte or so of old and current treads saved on my hard drive. Just create a folder in your "Documents" or other location. Then I save the threads there by using the "File" or "Page" drop down menu, depending on your browser. When the drop down menu opens click on "save as", a dialog box will open allowing you to pick a location to save to. You can also change the title, which I recommend, to shorten it. Example: The thread "Old Bear Bows", which is five pages. In my Documents I have a Folder titled "Trad", inside that Folder I have sub-folders with different titles which are subject specific, such as "Bows", or "Arrows". This is so I can later go back and look for a topic and read it, on-line or not.

I will change the title by deleting the Trad Gang ... to "OldBearBows-1", and save it in the "Bows" folder. Then open the next page and save as "OldBearBows-2". When I get enough megabytes in the folder to fill a CD, I copy it onto a CD. I now have a library of info relating to a subject for future reference, even when I don't have internet access.

Make it easier to find info later by creating many sub-folders within the main folder. I have folders for Arrows-Strings-Bows-Shooting etc. Inside "Arrows" I have sub-folders for Feathers, Cresting, Finishes, etc. I go back and look in the archives, from before I was a member, and copy info into proper folders. Say I'm thinking about ordering wood shafts. I can go to my "Woods" folder, which is in my "Arrows" folder, and read all saved posts on that topic. Don't have to be online or wait for downloading etc. I have a folder for "Bow Pics" so I can quickly look at all the beautiful bows posted in the past.

Most of you probably know how to do this, it's simple, and I find it invaluable in having info ready quickly. If someone does not quite understand what I am describing or needs more info, email me at [email protected]. I will get back to you, and call you if need be. Dan.

Also if you happened to have Adobe Acrobat, you can print you a PDF file out of your favorite thread and  save it that way

Danny if I knew how to do all that, I would be running MS, not Bill Gates. Hap

Hap That's funny LOL! Like most things it sounds a lot more complicated when written down. That being said I have a diploma in programming, though I was not able to get a job in it as I graduated just brfore the .coms collapsed and we went into resession in 2000. Couldn't compete with all the foreign workers coming in, thanks to MR. Gates. I'm currently driving a taxi to pay off the last of the school loans.

I am an info junky and have a number of interests. Problem is I live on a sailboat and space is very critical. If I had room for a printer I'd go that route. Also my internet access is flaky at best which is a problem when I need some info now. So I developed this system which works for me and is actually simple. I am going to get one of those skinny scanners so I can scan magazine articles and eliminate that paper size and weight also.

If you want a better description I'd be happy to explain it better in a PM or some night on the phone. Just shoot me a PM and I'll get with you.
