Amen, TD. When we forget this or decide it's not worth the fight, so to speak, we've let down all those that made what we currently have possible.
Whatever you're feelings, thank a vet and enjoy the wonderful freedoms we have. God bless

God Bless America and ALL those who are, have, or will, fight to keep us free......
For sure, for sure - 4th of July is my favorite holiday, not because I do anything special but for what it celebrates/means to me. We (Rose and I) always wear patriotic things on the fourth - shirts, pins, etc. (of course I do a lot of plain ol' days too). Today I wore a T-shirt all day that has a big "Old Glory" on the front of it with "United We Stand" under that. On the back, a couple of years ago, I transferred and then hand painted a special pic on the back - because of my "work" as the Official Dinosaur Wrangler for ATAR, and because I love the "Red, White, and Blue". Needless to say it drew a lot of highly favorable comments today, re both sides of it, as it always does.
This was taken at ATAR, two years back I think:

"We all declare for liberty: but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor: while with others, the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men's labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name - liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names - liberty and tyranny."
Abraham Lincoln 1864
Enjoy your Independence Day and don't forget those who fought and died for our liberty.
I live on one of the longest streets in my city. A drive today confirms that my house and my adjacent neighbor's house are the only two on the street flying the stars and stripes. I mourn today.
