my road dawg Ron W done scouted out FrogTropolis for the 3 amigo's to hunt!! ya will not believe the rumors of 500 frogs this place holds. Bowspirit can't make it today but myself and Cyclic Rivers will do our best to recon and engage these hostile swamp monsters! today i will be shooting a beautifull little green bow made by a member here, hope to do him proud and spill some blood. will post pic's and video latter!

I rode my motorcycle to spring turkey hunt one year,,, you should have seen some of the looks I got with that tom turkey strapped to the lugguage rack when I came back into town!
I had not choice as the wife had our only car at work. That's is a fun memory though!!!

Please continue with your posting!

Cyclic Here from ADKKen's computer. Filling up the the cooler with ice and we are out.

Yesterday we tried a spot coined the Bayou. A lot of frogs theer but they were very skiddish. I assume It's due to the egrets and blue herons not to mention Bass and fools with bows  :dunno: !

Bowspirit made some great shots, most shots needed to be long and you really had to "HUNT" the frogs.

Will be back with today's rondevous and adventures.

I think it's a fine idea. It'll be tricky, but I'd like to include Drew when we all get together. I know he's heading up with me tommarrow.

And footwear? footwear? If I don't have a few leeches on me, I'm just not hunting right...

Salvatore,

My bow is a big River its 64" and 45lbs at 28. It's all I would ever need although some of the thick brush it was hard to shoot because the limbs would hang up.

The other bow is a Keith Deiters Boo backed osage. You cant buy them. If you want to know how they perform ask Doug Cambell, Ken Mowrey or Keith Deiters or just look at the cooler full of frogs as his bow made most of the meat.

He was able to use some arrows that were special to him as well but I will let him tell that saga.

Ron, we'll go back in the morning. Take some leaches home with you. they are easy to catch. If you make a commotion in the water they all just swim right for you. You can stand in one spot and just pick up 5-10 easy.
Not kidding Ishiwanabe's arrow carries some amazing mojo.  Thank you Jamie.

Tomorrow Drew will make meat Even if my bow stay's in teh truck that will be goal # 1.!

my bow was made by Keith Deters and is 51@28 and 61 inches long. if you have never laid eyeys or hands on one of Keithes bows you will be blown away!!! TINY tips, BIG proformance!!!
I will take my kayak tommorow and will not take may shots. i'll scout the far side swamp, run camera and retrieve frogs and clean frogs for ya all. now what time??? also bring water and food as i got really dehydrated today!

i am a hunter. it was in me when i was born, it is primal. it is who i am, i except this and do not question this. it is not blood luct for a kill, it is pure survival instinct, i cherish it.

This would be a great way for my daughter to express her "traditional skills" in a hunting type setting. So, do you eat the frog legs? Are they much trouble cleaning?

Leo,
extremly easy to clean and taste GREAT. as the saying goes "taste like chicken" but THEY REALLY DO!! just got back, the guys are still hammering them and i believe Ron W is going there yet tonight. brought my kayak today and killed one while sitting which was hard to get use to. going to make maybe one more outing and then have a cook out. will take pic's of preparing them for the pan when we do.
Joe,
yeah thats what Charlie tried to name my bow becouse of the green color!

Izzy,
great spot man, very big. we are only going to make one more outing there though so not to spoil it. we owe A LOT to Ron W for this spot! have idea's in the works for a TradGang frog hunt next year. frog hunt/cook out type of thing with the major idea of being for the kids. i believe this spot can comfortable hold 15 hunters at a time. as i said we are about done hunting there though so as to save it.  looks to be some really good spots down the road that we will scout.

Ken, Im not suprised but youve made a wise choice letting it rest a while.Ive burned spots out before and it happens real fast.I understand that they have a long life span and dont grow very fast but dang they sure are fun hunting.

Wow guys, Im impressed.
Charlie, that arrow has a little to do with it, but I think that wore off long ago my friend.

I should probably try to get permission to bring a few of ya out around here...big frogs. When I was a kid, I caught them by throwing a hookless rubber worm out, and waiting til they stuffed it into their mouthes. All of, I dont know, 8 inch bodies. BIG legs. Hmmmm.

Just got back.

Had a great time and have to close my eyes for a while before putting hay away in the  Hay mow.

Again, didn't shoot all of em In fact I probably shot at 1 out of every 8 or ten shooters. There are a lot of little ones too so hope fully next year or in 2 years they will be there for the kids.

I managed top break all of my arrows today. Found my hex blunt inside a frog head so that was a plus.  Thanks to ken for loaning me a few.
Most of the frogs were in the tree and in the woods. Tough to get but if you stay in one spot long enough 5 or 8 come hopping right at you all at once.

Jamie quit being modest, your arrows are gold. I have to glue some nocks back on them and they will again be good to go.

Perhaps Chris will chime in later about his incredible kayak stalk and shot he made on a large frog.

Assuming you only eat the back legs...it must take about 10 per person to provide the "meat" portion of a meal???

Out of curiousity, I went to youtube to look up "preparing frog legs"...there are a lot of videos out there on that topic.
