Sunday two of the newest trad gang members and my best friends, my god son, and I went on their first stumping adventure. We visited some of my elk hots spots early in the day. Fortunately for them they are twenty miles from their homes. We had a great day scouting out hunting spots for elk and blacktail.
One of them who will remain nameless ( Arrow Buster ) was steadily breaking arrows all day. One spectacular shot bounced off four trees and broke the arrow into five pieces. Tim busted a few arrows. While Alex managed to keep all of his intact. The pics were taken on a bench along an elk trail that looked like it had been bulldozed from all the recent activity.
This shot is Alex getting ready to let fly

And this is his hit on a stump in front of the target stump.

Glenn is lining up an uphill shot with a bow I made while in highschool. I gifted it to him a while back and he is starting to shoot it a lot.

The weather was perfect, and we all had a lot of fun. In the afternoon we went to a new area and scouted out a deer trail up the Coweeman River that had lots of sign with good fresh rubs apparent along the trail.
It was fun seeing Alex getting excited while taking his first steps in the hunting process. This will be his first year hunting.
right on clay, cool story buddy.looks like a great time.
Sounds like lots of fun . cool looking area.I like the way you have your hawk on you.
Actually all four of us were carrying hawks made by a guy I know. ;) I have them carrying the pouches and hawks so they will be comfortable hunting with them. The pouches carry food, water, and survival supplies. :archer2:
Always nice to stump in elk country.
What a fun time you guys had I'm sure. And in two of the pics there is also a four legged friend who is very interested in what's going on! :archer: :archer2:
looks like some good times! :archer: :archer2:
Clay,
That looks like a blast, I need to get my boys out for another weekend of stumping.
Fun times with good friends. Good enough to cough up three of my prime elk spots without a blink of the eye. All three areas were flat tore up from elk traffic with good rubs in all three spots.
You definately need to take the boys out stumping.
Looks like fun.
Looks like a good day for you and your shootin buddies.
Your wife and daughter getting anxious for their Wes Wallace long bows to arrive?
I had a good time shooting with you all at the WSTR.
Take care
John
Yep, They are both twitchy for their bows but still have over 5 months to wait.
Fun.
