This will be my first time going. I'm gonna stay at my Grandma's house and make the short drive everyday. So who all is going? What should I expect? I've only been to a couple small shoots with no venders and to Kalamazoo once. What should I bring (bows, arrows, knives, stuff to trade, etc?
Thanks and looking forward to meeting a lot of you,
Ken
I'll be there. You will have a great time. Lots of things to do and see. Great time for the kids. Hope to meet some trad gangers.
Bring bow, arrows, tab, money, trade goods and high expectations. You will find good use for all of these.

Winterhawk1960
looking at the picture I'm already there :biglaugh:

Winterhawk1960
My wife and I will be there Thursday evening and staying until Monday. We're really looking forward to it.
I'll probably be there a little every day. I'm gonna come solo one day and the other days I'll bring my 4 yr old daughter along. I hope to meet all of you but if I can only meet one person it has to be Killy. Her wit and special way with words has made me smile so many times here on the Gang! :bigsmyl: Of course I gotta meet Big Jim and try out a Thunder Child as well!
I'm goin', probably Friday if the weather cooperates. My 16 year old son will be with me and hopefully I can get my 75 year old dad to go.
Been workin' on him the last week or so.
We will be there with bells on ( I won't tell you where the bells will be).
This is a great shoot. I have been looking forward to it for sometime.
BigJim
Coming in Thursday and have really been looking forward to this one. Danny, Bobby, and crew do a heck of a job. It is one of the best of the year.Looking forward to meeting up with those I know and those I have yet to meet.
Well known as my favorite place to be, away from home. The Dino Home Herd (for the kids of ATAR), my Daughter, Lois, and I will be getting in Thursday afternoon, and camping 'til Sunday afternoon. A be-yoot-i-full place, from high on the hill where the vendors and meeting house are, all the way down to the Dam at the end of the lake where the comp range usually is - and more fun than a barrel of playful monkies ... er dinosaurs, in this case.
Looking forward to seeing all of your smiling faces.
Tom Anderson is the other guy (lft) in the pic (above) with Danny (rt) but I got a message from him just yesterday, and he has to be at a different kind of shoot (in Prep for Camp Perry Nationals) that weekend so won't make ATAR this year, unless he has a last minute change of heart.
my wife and i will be driving up on saturday morning to snoop around
Planning on heading over Thursday with both kids in tow; gonna be cramped in the tipi....they're alot bigger than the last time they came. Looking forward to it...
Gonna try to be there if work permits, Probably drive in Thur. eve and leave sat mid day.
The Cool Springs Gang will be there in full force for the entire weekend!!! :archer2:
it will also be my first time, will be bringing my wife, 3 kids, my niece and her boyfriend... just keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is good.....
I'll be there all day Saturday. Wish I could be there Thursday - Sunday but work won't allow it this year. I love this shoot!!!!!
Sounds like a pretty good group of folks! I'll be on the look out for a TradGang sign and for a Big red truck. Guess I better listen for some bells too! :biglaugh:
What are the dates and exactly where is this event held?
mongoose, here's a link; dates are July 9th-11th

Can someone tell me more about the coon shoot? Sounds like a lot of fun!
Coon targets are set up around the edge of the woods below the pavilion where all the vendors and activities take place. After it gets dark you shoot the targets using flashlights to illuminate their eye (bright eyes tacks). Loads of fun.
Mongoose, it's near Beckley, WV - Exit 44 OFF I77, Take Harpers Road to the west (left) and about 8 miles later watch for sign to Lake Stephens (to right). You can get more directions off the link Kenneth gave, or off web site at lakestepenswv.com
Thanks Kenneth :bigsmyl:
Thanks to you also Ber :wavey:
My pleasure - hope you make it there.
Thanks for the info on the coon shoot David! That sounds like a blast! Are they on the ground or in the trees? If they're in the trees I better make up a couple spiral flu-flu's for the occasion.
Tracy and I will be there thursday evening.
Bill
Thursday noon, I hope. Straightened up the truck a little today and loaded the hammock. :D
Thanks John-Boy.
Thanks Gramps.
Killdeer :biglaugh:
Not sure yet.....still hanging in limbo here....might be a long long walk...lol
Allen Kline and I will pulling in Thursday evening.
David
Kenneth, the coon targets are on the ground--there are also a few lynx and bobcats thrown in for good measure and a good mixed bag.
:jumper: :jumper: :jumper: Man I can't wait!!!
coon targets are on the ground Kenneth.
Will be there on Friday morning I work the competetion range sign up 8-11 that day . Will be there also Saturday and possibly Sunday .
Jack
Will get there this afternoon through Sat. evening. Really look forward to this shoot, always a good one.
Gonna be there Sat. morning with my 8 year old boy. This will be our first overnight shoot together, so I'm looking forward to it.
I think al tradgangers should put a name tag on your shirt so we can all meet each other. Something like (Tradgang member/ Hitman)
Will be there Fri, Sat and Sun. It's a great time. You will meet some fine people. If it rains bring your boots.
If everyone is going to meet at a "central location"........say, at a "certain time"......my wife would oblige us and take a group picture. We did this up at Compton this year and it turned out great.
Just an idea......
I know year before last they had a tent set up with Trad-Gang on it.......but there were very few people there when I was.

So, do any of you TradGangers that are going have mobile internet access? If you do, I've got a couple of requests for you...
Is there any way to find out what vendors will be there? I'm driving up from Ky and was just wondering. :campfire:
Here is the thread about vendors at ATAR over in Trad Events:
