I think I have found my favorite fletching for visibility. The ones that are spliced white with orange barred feathers look like white dots going through the air.
LOVE IT!!
Beautiful job.
Those are some sweet looking arrows.
Thanks guys. I've gotten away from crown dipping. I like seeing the grain of these Surewoods instead of covering them up.
nice
Beautiful job.....I need to try splicing some soon.
Those are prettier than a speckled pup!
Your a master fletcher my friend!
Beautiful. I gotta try that some time.
I use the same but red instead of orange on my elk arrows. Very nice!
My splicing attempts have never come out looking like that. What's the secret to getting them to glue together so evenly? I can't do it.......
Joe, I use to have one heck of a time getting a good glue joint too. I started out "butt end" gluing them. Didn't like that. Went to grinding the base down with a dremel type tool. That was better. Then I tried stripping the the quills off the feather I am going to use for the splice. It takes the thin membrane off with the quills. Love it! Perfect!
very nice.
You did good on them,I like em :clapper:
You did well man. Great work.
what length are your feathers
Great looking arrows you have there.
Very Nice Job.
Awsome looking arrows there sir. I like them a lot.
Flyfish1, I love the 4 shield 4" fletchings. I don't have to worry about how to place the arrow on the string and they fly great!
Great looking arrows! Love the splice!
Nice job snag! I prefer 4 fletch also. I tried some splicing last summer and they didn't turn out to good.
Yours look great! Where did you find the info on how to do it?......was it here on Trad Gang?
Great Job....
Guys like FerretWYO are always a big help. I think grinding the base off of the quills works pretty well. But if I can strip the base off it gives me a thin layer of the membrane that holds the quills and it is kind of curved of domed. So it fits really nicely onto the membrane you are splicing onto. Just what I have found to work pretty well. I am sure if you do a search for "splicing" you will get lots of info.
Well I have to get to making some more. I have some shafts that are already for fletching, they just need some of these spliced fletchings now!
Nice arrows Snag!
Here are some I made up. I used two white and put a red barred:
