was wondering what you guys use to attach your side plates and rests. just got the kids bows in and was going to start playing with some hide to see what would work best for a rest and side plate and figured i would ask.
good question.
Barge cement. I think I got it at Walmart.
I'll second the Barge cement, but we don;t have it at Wallyworld here. It is a contact cement that you put on both surfaces, let dry and stick together. Just make sure it's where you want it when you place it as it sticks together real well. It also comes by the name of (weldwood) that Wallyworld does have here.

If you can't find it locally, 3Rivers carries Barge Cement, and they are a sponsor here.
I use any "cheap" contact cement...the better the cement is the harder it will be to clean up later.
In the last few years I've started cementing the arrow plate/rest material to Duct Tape then just put it in place. Stays put but comes off easily later.
I use Barge cement for rest and side plates and any leather work.
I have some double sided carpet tape (looks like duct tape but both sides are sticky) and I use it for all sorts of attachments. Holds great and removal is a cinch.
Double sided carpet tape. Available at Lowes or Home Depot. A big enough roll to last several lifetimes for under $10.00

I use Shoe Goo. It's clear, wont harm the bows finish, stays put and comes off easy and you can find it at most hardware stores.
Scotch sells rolls of thin foam with double stick on both sides. It comes in various widths. I use it to stick rests on. It looks like the same material that is on flipper rests etc. Its a couple of bucks a roll at Walmart.
i use fletching glue
I use D815. It's a seam sealer for carpet. You buy it at carpet installation supply houses. It's about 15 bucks a quart. It like super contact cement only is softer when dry. Comes off the bow easy when you want it to but is very strong. I use it for lots of stuff. Very handy to have around. Gary
I'm with Jon Stewart - scotch double sided tape. Barge will work nicely.
I also use the Barge Cement.
Barge works just fine, but Charlie Lamb has forgotten more about traditional archery then I will ever know. :campfire:
Barge for me.
I second Barge cement.
Shoe Goo from the hardware store.
I bought a role if 3M industrial strength double sided tape about four years ago and put elevated rests on both my bow and my wife's bow. We mostly hunt with them but even with all the abuse they get the rests are still on from the original attempt at using it. I can't tell you if there are any problems with removal and that has not yet been something I have had to deal with.
