Title: NALS
Post by: john fletch on June 28, 2010, 06:52:00 PM
Just got back from the orth American Longbow Safari held near Libby Montana this weekend.  There were about 300 shooters.  Traditional Bowhunters of Montana put this one on.

I only heard about this a couple years ago, and this one was right in my back yard - about 80 miles from Kalipell.

The 3-D trails were great.  30 targets each day with a roving 'shotgun start' so no one wanted in line for a start time.

Rules are longbow only and arrows with 2 blade broadheads.  The backstops were great!  Big trees, rocky hillsides, rocky stream beds, thick brush!  Just like a real hunt!  Great incentive to hit the animal!  I missed quite a few times and bent some points, but did not lose an arrow.

I will try to go again many times before I am too old to pull er back.  At 61 there is not much time left.  Wish I knew of this years ago!

Yes, in Canada but I forgot the town already.  Not sure when that will be up on their website.

I am in touch with several folk from AB and BC, so I will post when I find out.

The weather was pleasant and a good time was had by all. There were some excellent shooters at this event and some unique bows, many homemade.

Was the running target fast enough for you?

Next year will be in southern Alberta, the specific location is to be announced.

Next years NALS will be held in Southern Alberta. The site has not yet been announced, as the organizers are still looking for a suitable venue.

It was a great shoot (again) and I am looking forward to attending next years shoot.

The Traditional Bowhunters of Montana put on a great shoot for all attendees.

The Montana group did a great job on the organization, and implementation of this shoot.

A big "Thank You" to all those who put in the work and sweat to make this shoot a success.
