Now I know many of us have multiple bows Longbows and recurves. But when it really comes down to it which one are you grabbing (Longbow or Recurve)??????? :archer2:

Longbow.
yes
ChuckC
Shootin a recurve cause I don't have a longbow yet. As soon as I dump a Widow and drive to Kimsha, it'll be a longbow.
i like my recurves i like the style i love the power and the blend of old techology with new materials thats not to say i dont like longbows i just like recurves better
As soon as my pending sale for my hybrid longbow goes through, I'll only have my take down recurves left and that's what I'll be using. No more longbows for me. I don't shoot them as accurately as I do a recurve.
I love them both about the same.
Presently I have four recurves with one other recurve on order, I have one longbow and another on order. All of my bows are takedown and my Blackfeather is a "convertible".....same riser with both recurve and longbow limbs. I have found that I shoot the recurves more consistantly than the longbows. I don't know why, but even with the same riser I shoot the recurve better. I'll check back in after I get the 20th Anniversary longbow that Ben Graham is building for me. It also seems to me that I shoot the heavier, "hand filling" risers more consistantly than I do the smaller grips. We are all different and when I find something that works for me.........I am reluctant to let it go.
Your mileage may vary..............

I have four recurves and a longbow. I must say I am going to hunt with my longbow some this season! BUT with that said if I want more of a "gaurantee" I will pick up my take down recurve, just because I am a way better shot with it. It is just the difference between a pie plate group and a tennis ball group! Either way, I can put meat on the ground!
Recurves i just like the way the feel and shoot.
R/D Longbow. Love it. But I've got a hankerin' for a BW PCH! (Wife says Yeah like that's gonna happen.)
Recurve for now. I switch alot.
Gun to my head, one shot I had to make, life on the line, I'd have to go with my Morrison Cheyenne.
I love all my longbows, I prefer the look, the way they shoot, the quietness, everything about them all. I just shoot my Cheyenne better than any other bow.
Hybrid long bows, best of both worlds for me.
I am more accurate with my recurves. But I like to shoot both.
Longbow
All straight limbed longbows!
This Year is The Year of the Recurved Bow for Me. Back in 2004 before I joined Tradgang I had a Bear Hunter T/D Recurved Bow...
The riser cracked and NOT KNOWING any better I sold it and Got a Shrew Original 54" Long Bow Used. Used that from 2005 - 2008. I Sold My Shrew in late Summer, I Made a Selfbow and wanted to just stay with that bow...
Now Since March of This Year I have and will be hunting with a PSE KingFisher Recurved Bow w/woodies & 160grn Snuffers
Recurves - long live Fred....
Most of my bows are hybrids/ longbows, plus a few T/D recurves and self-bows. Really doesn't make much difference. I hunt with them all.
I can shoot a recurve better at a target but when an animal comes into range I'm a much better shot with a longbow. I don't know if it's a mental thing or what but it has caused me to give up recurves and stick with my longbows.
i have and can shoot both but i love the hybred longbow. its just poetic to me. recurves are no doubt pretty but a longbow is simple elegance. :bigsmyl: :archer2:
A right hand 51pound juniper Pearce Point Robertson longbow and a left hand 51 pound myrtle on myrtle really pretty Robertson longbow. I have others, but those are the only two I will be using this year.
For me, for now, it's gotta be a broom handled, continuous "D" shaped (at least when strung), longbow! Not cut to center, let alone past it. Pistol grip hybrids don't count as longbows to me. (I don't care about that "if the string doesn't touch the limb" nonsense; that's an arbitrary definition at best and one I won't subscribe to). ;) I generally lump such bows in the recurve class)! :bigsmyl: Don't get me wrong-I love recurves, hybrids, selfbows, but I LOVE this longbow I've been shooting and I don't care that it was harder to learn to shoot well and it's not as forgiving as my recurves-THAT'S part of the FUN/Romance of "real longbows!" as I like/define them! :D
No doubt: hybrid longbow.
Longbows forever- Howard
One of each. A Pittsley Predator and a Sentman R/D.
I prefer which ever one I'm more accurate with.
...which is usually neither :knothead:
August 2010 - Bear A Handle Takedown for Antelope in Colorado
September 2010 - Cari-bow Takedown Longbow for Moose & Caribou in Alaska
October - December 2010 - Different Recurve (TBD) for Whitetail in Ohio and Michigan
Howard Hill Big 5! :campfire:
Frank
98% of the time Longbow... Quiet, lightweight and deadly..!
Red Tailed Hawk, I shoot both recurves and longbows about the same in the woods. For 3-D, I have more confidence shooting recurves.
I'm too new at this. Right now it looks like a long bow. Love how the longbow feels. Too early in the year to tell though. Probably the long bow. Decisions, decisions......
Longbow, did I say longbow I meant longbow.I did get to shoot a recurve recently and enjoyed it,But I like feel and the punch of the longbow.IMHO
I love shooting many kinds of bows, both longbows and recurves. But if I can have only one bow, it's a recurve - and in my case a Widow.
It's looking like the Longbows are winning :coffee:
How wonderful it is to have a choice and the right to have our own opinion.
Longbow.
Straight Limb deep cored longbow with a straight handle. It is deadly accurate. I never devoted enough time to shoot my recurve that well so I sold it.
sorry guys....Ed Holcomb ruined me! Have a hard time giving up the speed and power of a good recurve! Love the asthetics and smoothness of the longbows....but the elegant grace and grace of a 59" kodiak styled recurve.....I'm jaded...john
I shoot both :archer2:
my one and only bow a longbow a fox royal crown it is the most accurate bow i have ever shot
Well, Whats your definition of a "LongBow" There are "MANY" ... Good Luck All ....
I shoot both. It depends on the mood I'm in. Can't really tell a lot of difference on the accuracy. But I do have to shoot differently depending on the bow. I have no idea which one I will be hunting with this year. Gary
D shaped, narrow limbed longbow. My New Yellowstone. Think I am in love?
Both for me.
I like my girls curvy, not straight like a stick.
i shoot a rodney wright long bow and love it
Both, I have a two kijika stiks same riser for both the longbow and the recurve and they both shoot the same!It doesn't matter which one I grab I will still hit where I'm looking! I like shooting both bows equally!
I have both, but seem to all ways pick up my trusty recurve.......
I like the looks and simplicity of longbows but only recurves for now
I am in hopes that it will be my new to me Nate Steen sunset hill! Should get it this week.(it is hard to sleep at the moment)
I have and enjoy shooting both.
Long Bow. I switched from recuves about 5 years ago, now the recurve does'nt feel balanced right in my hand anymore.
I have both but have been shooting longbows more lately.
Right now my goto bow for the "daily fix" is my Firefly longbow 65@30.5 from Jim Jones.
It`s smooth and if I hadn't measured the draw-weight I would never guessed that weight.
Oh and it hits the targets with heavy authority. :archer:
Margly
I like the looks and quietness of a longbow, but for accuracy it is a BlackWidow PCH for me.
Longbows. Nothing against recurves, just love those longbows.
long bow
Longbow
None atm, but will be shooting both^^

But you prefer them to be made out of wood?
I'm using a Howard Hill Halfbreed for this year. Next year, I'll use the Black Creek I have ordered.
recurve
I used to shoot both but have been shooting longbows exclusively for about 13 years.
MOHAWK LONGBOWS the only way to Fly!
Longbows...D-Style. This should be a Poll.
I have five Hill bows, a Quillian Bamboo Longhunter, a Deathwish by Steve Welte, a Kolomi from Lynn Harrelson, and a Royal Safari (Bear). The Wesley Special is my main "go to" bow. I have several recurves also, but just don't seem to enjoy them as much as the longbows.
Longbows for me. Hung my recurves up for good a couple years ago. Unless I change my mind.
I love shooting my longbows, and take them hunting more than often than not. Shoot them pretty darn OK as well. I also have a few 50's style recurves that are great hunting bows and use them often.
Truth be told however, I shoot a Big River Flatbow as well as anything I own. If I drew a one of a kind tag, of any kind this bow would be coming along.
Longbow... just seem to fit me better..
60'', 50# @28 Thunder Horn Heart Stopper. Love that bow!
mohawk
I shoot both. However, the newest horsey in the stable gets the nod: McCullough Griffin LB.
Mohawk longbow. I start out the year shooting both but end up with the longbow. I like the light mass weight and quietness. Plus I shoot it just as well as the recurve.
d style string follow longbows !

I like 'em all....but If I had to grab one bow and depend on it, I have an old Mahaska longbow that is as good as it gets!!!
Longbows now! Mainly 3pc takedowns with r/d limbs
I have made the decision, and since June 1, I will not shoot anything else but my 1970 Kodiak Hunter until January 1. Then the process starts all over.
