Title: 5575 GTs for a 62# Checkmate?
Post by: Partagas on June 27, 2010, 01:21:00 AM
I've got some GT 5575 blems to try with my CM HunterII.  I draw about 28.5 or so.  I need to cut the arrow at least 29.5 to clear my finger in front of the riser with broadheads.

I have 100 grain inserts but think they may be too weak with 125 grain heads.  The bow is 62#@28.

I've tried Stu calculator but am wondering what you guys think?

i can get a 55/75 to fly good out of a 69# recurve. it's weighted to around 700 odd grains. 250gr head, 100gr insert and internal weights too.
sounds as if you will be right with a bit of juggling.

When I tune carbons I don't cut them without shooting them first, and then trim and tune with the weight I plan to use upfront.I let my tuning dictate their final length. If they still show weak at your minimum length, you can try building out the side plate. They may work out for you,but they may not. This has been my experience with carbons.

I shoot 55/75's out of my 57# H2 and they fly great.  Full length tho with brass inserts and 155 grn heads

I used to shoot the 5575 cut to 30.25 out of a 68# recurve with 50grain brass inserts and 125grains on point.  They shot just fine.
