Title: Bob Lee limb cracked - heartbroken!
Post by: boog21 on June 26, 2010, 02:17:00 PM
After about 20 shots with my Bob Lee Signature yesterday . . . CRACK!  The lower limb cracked.

I bought the bow used a couple of years ago, and have shot a few thousand arrows through it since.  It was my only bow (aside from a couple of low poundage "beaters"), and I shot it almost daily.  I enjoyed the heck out of it and am down right depressed over its demise.

I have a couple of questions as I try to find a replacement (and recover from my depression):

1.  Will limbs from any Bob Lee Signature work on my riser?  (I'm a lefty.)

2.  My bow was camo dipped (mossy oak breakup).  If I find a pair of limbs that will work on my riser, will I be able to find someone to dip the limbs to match the riser or redo the riser to match the limbs?

Thanks

Lee does not CNC his bows so each riser is custome fitted to the riser.  He can make some limbs to fit if you send him the riser.  Talk to Big Jim on this site about camo dipping.

Sorry for your loss.  I have one of the new short risers and absolutly love it.  It shoots just like the 62" that I used to own and its only 54"

Any limbs from a BL takedown will fit on your riser.

What poundage are you looking for? I have seen sets for sale here and other sites. Try running a ad. I got a spare set here.

Twostrings,

I have a set of signature recurve limbs, marked 57# @ 28", only thing is they are 60" I bought them new and they have been used very little.

I have 2 different BobLee risers and have 2 differnt sets of BobLee longbow limbs that did not come with either riser, I have traded those sets back and forth on the 2 risers and also have had the recurve limbs listed above on those same risers with never a problem with any of the combonations as far as fit goes, I don't think you will have a problem at all getting a set of limbs and using them with your riser.

ncsaknech1ydh,

Thanks for sharing your experience with risers and exchanging limbs.  My old limbs were 60", but my draw is more than 29".  Bob Lee recommends 62" limbs for 29" draw, and 64" limbs for over 29".  I wonder if shooting the 60" limbs at a higher draw contributed to their failure?

Anyway, I'll PM you about your 60" limbs.

I feel you pain. I just had a lower limb on my Schafer break. It was a beautiful bow. Double the cost of Bob's limbs to get back what I had. OUCH!!!! Maybe some day. Sorry for your lose.
