Title: Vertical vs Horizontal Bow Rack
Post by: Tatersalad on June 26, 2010, 11:18:00 AM
Hey guys/gals

My bow collection is growing and i no longer have enough room for horizontal racks (2 pegs with both hung horizontal).  I was thinking about building a veritcal bow rack with a single peg to hang the bows on...i've seen several pics of them on this web site.

The question    is......is a vertical bow rack as safe as a horizonal rack...i'm worried about limb twist!!!

Thanks

Michael

probably safer, as long as it hangs free from the peg. I am in the process of building a larger vertical myself.

Froggy

When you say hangs free from the peg...you mean you are planning on hanging your bows by string/leather so that the limb does not contact the peg?  Correct?

I've seen them hung directly on pegs just not sure if that's setting yourself up for some twisted limbs.

I hang mine unstrung, vertically, on a peg. There are 4 sets of pegs, looking from left to right, and there are 4 rows of pegs.
My rack holds 16 bows and only takes up a spot about 27" wide.

I have some of this bow racks. With long pegs I can store 3 or 4 bows on every line so 9 x 3=27 for everyone.
