Ive been using Duco cement to fletch wood. Will it work as well on carbon and aluminum? If not, recommendations?
I use it to fletch carbon and it works for Al also.

Until I "found" fletching tape I used Saunders NVP and it worked on woodies,conduit, and carbon extremely well. Since the tape I haven't used anything but tape. Frank
I only use duco for wood arrows with a polyurethene finish,it will not hold on aluminum.I use Platinum Fletch tite for carbons and aluminum,I also use arrow wraps on all my carbons.
It will not work on Carbon and aluminum - Fletch Tite Platinum is a safe choice for them along with Quantum.
Well.. yes to the Fletch Tite on bare aluminum. But.. i have been know to cap dip my aluminums in Gasket Laquear. I have done this with Gold Tip carbons also. My orginal intent was to protect the cresting I did on the arrows. So far I have not had any adverse effects. I am not a fan of mix-an-match but this combo works for me.
Duco on aluminum not good in my experience. Fletch Tite has worked since aluminum as been around...Van
Ok....so no Duco on aluminum and carbon. Thanks for the heads up people. Fletch Tite Platinum seems to be popular?! Hows the drying time? And, if I wrap carbons and fletch with that Platinum and have to eventualy re-fletch worn or damaged feathers, can I simply strip off the wrap, feathers and all with no mess before staring all over?
I have used either Duco or fletch tite. I prefer Duco, I clean the alum shaft with Ajax then wipe with alcohol and never had any problems.
I am shooting a few gold tip blemishes from Big Jim right now that have duco holding the feathers on ... nicely too, I might add.
Tried both Duco and Fletch Tite on aluminum. Fletch tite seems to last a bit longer.
Fltech Tite Platinum takes 15 min to dry on Al. Duco dries a bit faster.
Thing about Duco on aluminum (no matter how you prep the shaft) is that it seems to work but when you least expect it the fletch will just pop off with no warning. Might be a year later or a change in temp. Been there, done that :goldtooth: Van
Duco has always worked fine on any of my carbons. To me, it smells a whole lot like Fletch-Tite. Just sayin.....
Over my 15 years plus of making all types of arrows, to be shot in our variable weather here in FL, Duco is the only feather glue I will use. It is very durable and inexpensive, and I have arrows over 10 years old with feathers still intact, despite rain and heat. Bohning products are meant to adhere to their lacquers, and I don't use these finishes. If you do, their glue should be fine. I tried fletch tape a few times, but it let go in downpours in summer heat. With aluminum and carbon, however, for any glue to last, the shafts must be wiped down with a solvent. I use lacquer thinner. Hope this helps.

Lots of good info people, keep it coming and Thank you! I set my wheeles free about 3 years ago now....and Im never going back. When I did this, I also decided I wanted to shoot wood (lets face it, its just plain COOL!) so I got into making wood arrows. Thus far, I have stuck with POC shafts, water or alcohol stains and poly finishes. Duco for my trueflight feathers. Ive had great success and intend to keep shooting wood, but I do want to experience carbon too, especially with the new bow I have coming soon.
