I'm searching for the right carbons for my setup(52# @ 28" recurve) and was wondering if anyone shoots say a 3555 for target/3d with a lighter point and 5575 with high FOC for hunting? If so is there a drastic difference in your shooting?
Any pro's or con's ??
Definitely. I have a bow that is near the crossover between 3555 and 5575 myself, so I understand what you are talking about.
The problem is, if you shoot it a lot with the 3555's, you'll get used to that trajectory and won't be as accurate with the 5575's as you would be if you shot them all the time. This probably won't make much difference up to 20-25 yards, but from 25 yards and up, it could make the difference between a clean kill and a wound or a miss. So if you plan to take all your game at distances of less than 25 yards, I would say, go for it!
Yeah thats kind of what my thoughts are. I wont take a hunting shot over 20/25 yds where some 3d's and stumping shots could reach 40 yds at times. and though I wouldn't take those shots on game I do enjoy challenging myself in target type situations. obviously a lighter arrow will help at those longer ranges.

Me too. I went with the 400 spine but my proshop didn't have any field tips any heavier than 145 grain and so I have ordered some 250's to get them to shoot straight and not have to hold off the right of the target to hit the center bullseye.
I do exactly that with 53@30" 35/55 with 145 up front and 55/75 for hunting with a 100gr brass insert and 125 up front...PR
Forgot to mention the 35/55s get put away the middle of August and all I shoot from then on is the 55/75. You will shoot a little low at first but will quickly adjust to the heavier arrows...PR
My bow shoots several different spines and shoots them well.
i shoot 2117's and 2216's they both go where i look . when i do what im suposed to do.
ABSOLUTELY! Bow has to be a MOHAWK though! Woodies or carbons bow doesn't care.

I have a small pile of arrows out my back door for practice that get left outside. They vary from 45/60 and 150 carbons to 2117's, 2018's, woodies, lots of odd ball sizes. Oddly enough most of them end up in the spot I'm aiming for.
You should be able to do in without a problem. I am on the line for my bows shooting about 54@29 1/4". With side plate and center cut differences I have them shooting the same arrow spine now. I have been shooting all 400 or 5575 with various small differences in length and points. I end up with 10.5 gpp. with a 30-30 1/4" arrow. Now I am working on some 500's. The only problem for me is I am right on the line with my weight and arrow length. I am fine tuning right now at about 8.6 gpp and minimum arrow length. I may make one more change to point and insert set-up to stiffen them a little more, but then I will be at 8.2 gpp. The next option is thicker side plates to make it work out, but I don't want or need any heavier 400 shaft weight, and I don't want to change out side plates to change arrow. I also don't want to not be able to use my current length heavy shaft by going longer. I am about ready to go to the CE150's to boost gpp or add back end weight somehow. If my number are correct I can get right about 9 gpp with the CE150's. That is about what I want for an all around arrow.
