After the hide is tanned, cut a few strips make them the same size and then just wrap them around the string. lacing the ends in the string to hold them on.

After you cut the strips, I'd draw them through a closed hand a couple times or so each - to remove the hairs loosened or clipped in the cutting process. I do it over the trash can - the wife won't appreciate fur flying around the room - LOL

If you have a flemish string make sure the fur wraps in the direction the string twists-otherwise it will loosen up.

I just use my own Back hair it's a lot like cat whiskers...LOL
When you put it between the string and start to wrap add a little pull on the string so they lay smooth to the string before you tuck the tail and finish.Makes them look nice and even.Oh And measure evenly from both end so they are uniform in placement. my 2c

Hi!
Are there any difference in using beaver contra fox fur, when it comes to the silencing ability?

i just use wool open the string up and put a bunch of wool in then twist the string back up again. then tie some string in behind the wool to hold it in place so it dont slip down put the string back on the bow and pluck it a few times and the wool will puff up like a ball. there ya go all done.
