Great footage to illustrate how fast it happens:

My question to my fellow Canadian TradGang members is how is he legally packing a handgun? My understanding is that the days of prospectors permits were gone.
That was close. Thanks for sharing.
Man I really shouldn't have watched that before bed...thunderstorms here too.
Gonna be a long night.........
I hunted for moose around Prince George in 2003 and that area is thick with grizz. We had a sow with 3 cubs charge us while in a canoe. I got it on video. I wasn't to worried until my guide whispered, "I only got 3 shots". The fact that we were 20 yards or so in the water kept her at bay. I don't think she realized the water was only about 12" deep where we were. Had it been a minute sooner she would have nailed us in the portage we had just came through. A few days later a timber cruiser was severely mauled one hour after we stood in the exact same spot. Those B.C. grizz have a temper...
Jeez, did you read the reader comments?
Those people are brutal, and ignorant.
Guy
Looked all too familiar....
Read the related stories as well.. Don't need to be a griz to get you in trouble.
warning shot my ass.i woulda dropped that bear in a sec.when theyre that close you gotta shoot to kill, even those cubs coulda tore him up.they were big cubs.those idiots talkin crap about him being out there and awwwww..poor little mama bear..jeeeeshhhh..let them walk into this situation and see how fast they curl up into a nice little sack lunch for the bear family.
I know if your job requires you to carry a gun and you have your restricted fire arms license you can carry a hand gun.
Maybe he convinced a judge that his job of wildlife videography was dangerous and he needed a way to protect himself. I would probably give someone who i knew/had proof they were out most likely with only one or two other people deep in the woods trying to get close to dangerous animals a license to carry a hand gun. In a situation like that it would be hard to get a rifle ready and something small is much better suited.
So this discussion is about handguns?
