I went hog hunting with Ward this morning. We both had hogs within range twice. The wind swirled on me while drawing on the fattest boar I've ever seen at 19 yards. He must have weighed 350#. Five minutes later I had another monster come in from a seperate direction, and I spooked him while trying to head him off at around 30 yards. Ward had multiple groups of hogs within range, but couldn't connect on his first traditional hog. I also saw 6-7 groups of deer, a turkey, and made a stalk on this fellow. Initially, all I could see was black moving through a dry creek bed. I thought it was a hog. No water for a 100 yards! When he saw me, he spun around to face off and started cussing at me! All in all, a great day in the woods!

Awesome pics
Hunting/walking in the woods always creates great memories.
Better luck next time!
Incredible encounter!
Nice pics
Oh man that would be tempting after seeing the back quiver on the St. Jude Auction. I have applied for a draw alligator permit for the Pearl unit in MS. Fingers crossed.
Good deal Marty. They thick over there. I`ve been into more hogs without a shot lately than I`ve ever seen.Great hunt. RC
Very cool. Not too many gators here in Idaho...come to think of it not too many hogs either  Sounds like a heck of a good time.
Travis
He wasn't really cussing at you as much as telling you to be quiet. He's hunting wabbits or piggys.

cool pics
I dont know how you southern boys stay alive running around the woods you hunt in. The only thing I have to worry about up here is falling from one of my stands. Every step you take down there something could be a career ender. That being said..... Id kind of like to find out what that swamp running is all about. (as long as im sporting snake boots to my ears)
That's neat.....
Sweet!
Yikes...what Dustin said, I'm more than comfortable above the frost line. Only thing I have to worry about is a surly skunk or an old cow with a bad attitude.
Cool pics
This is about close enough for this old fat man!
I can't imagine getting startled by something like that in the woods.
Thanks for showing us.
God bless,Mudd
Nice pic Marty!
Very cool - sounds like a great hunt!
Good stuff Marty!
And we have to be careful of just some little old copperheads and rattlers. Here's a question for you Marty. Do gators eat many fawns? I assume they would.
Pretty cool
No gator tail or cheeks? Those gators are tasty.
Don't know about fawns, but I know they hunt hogs. I've seen them on stand in the little feeder creeks in the marsh. They will lay in a creek 18" wide directly beneath a hog trail. I've stepped over them, not realizing they were there. That will get your blood pressure up for sure. Yesterday, Ward heard a great commotion in a creek. A sounder of hogs were heard leaving the edge of the water at great speed. When he made it up closer, he could see the gator near the edge of the water, but no hog in his mouth.
Cool hunt.
