I am looking for some of the aurora pink lacquer that bohning used to make. I am wanting to paint some arrows and I cannot find this color. I know it was discontinued over a year ago(or longer). Anyone know of a place that may still have some available? I found a place online that still has it listed but after reading the reviews of the company, I am leary of using them.
Any info would be appreciated.
thanks
Dave
I cant help you with the Aurora pink as you said discontinued , I do have the rocket red.
I make a dozen all pink arrows from time to time for a guy in WA ( I wont name any names).
What I do is dip in the red Fiebings leather dye first and let that dry , then dip the whole shaft in Bohning white lacquer, the leather dye bleeds through the white and makes pink.
This will work for cresting as well , crest with the leather dye , go easy as it will bleed up and down the shaft (even if you tape). Then crest white and add black borders to cover the red bleed.
You may also want to give a try on some simple acrylic craft paints. You should be able to get them at any number of different stores.
Depending upon the other paints and finishes you're using, be sure to do compatibility tests before committing to the arrows.
