I've been thinking about buying some Grizzly Broadheads but since I shoot aluminum, I need adapters to attach the heads to arrows. I see that there are aluminum and steel adapters available and would like some feedback on each. Obviously, there is a weight difference but what about strength between steel and aluminum. Will I notice a practical difference?
Steel adapters are stronger, and they are alot heavier then aluminum. They will change the tune of your arrows, unless you tune your arrows with the extra weight.
Thanks for the input. I suspected that steel is stronger but has anyone really had the aluminum ones fail? In looking at the reviews on the 3 Rivers site, people seem to like the aluminum better. I could go with the lighter head and the steel adapter or a heavier head and aluminum adaptor to get to the same weight. Any thoughts on which would be stronger?
I have had a couple of the Aluminums fail.I will stay with the Steels from here in out.
I'm going with all steel, as they are stronger and I can increase my BH weight.
If you want to stay lighter, it looks like Abowyer has a titanium adapter coming out. I have had too many aluminum adapters break or bend to use them anymore.
I don't know about all sizes but had trouble getting steel adapters fitting 160 gr. head.
BH, I think your missing the point. You don't have the option to choose which adapter with durability as a factor. You have to match the weight of your bh to the weight of your field points which you have tuned to fly properly. Once you do that there's probably some fine tuning to make the BH hit in the same place as your FP.

Just take the steel adapter and drill a small hole through the center. Voila!

I have bent steel adapters 2 or 3 times on hogs..
Just sayin, they're not bullet proof ..
I shot 2 deer in the spine and they broke, I shot through 2 deer and they broke after they hit the ground.LCH
