I was just wondering what kind of speeds you are getting out of your ACS bows I was looking at dropping a few pounds please list your arrow weight at bow weight thanks.
60 lbs at 29" X 585 grains = fast enough to kill something! :biglaugh:
I don't have a chrono, but I also had a 54 lb acs-cx that was a solid shooter. I don't want to get into the speed for this, Kinetic energy there, momentum X the angle of the sun, speed for that debate, but I do think you could make clean kills with a little less draw weight with these bows. What did you have in mind?

ACS's are fast, but not necessarily the fastest bow out there. But of course, speed isn't everything. They are the most forgiving bow that I have ever shot, as well as being fast!
I was looking at some lighter limbs 45-48 dropping down from 54# starting to hurt my shoulder a little.
Mine is 62" 57@28", my draw length is approx 26.75". My arrows are 516 grains. Chrono fps is approx 172 fps. Hope this helps you out. I to was wanting a bow with good speed because of my short draw length. I've had the bow for about a year and I'm very pleased with it.
They shoot good. I haven't chronographed mine but it seems to shoot light and heavy arrows with authority. I have two sets of limbs for when I need to lighten up. Gary
A friend offered to sell his 3 peice longbow. I tried it out, and although I did not shoot it through my chrony, It felt like it was shooting faster than some other R/D longbows 15# heavier. I think Dr Ashby said something like an ACS CX at either 57# or 64# got as much penetration as his 80# straight limb longbow. VERY fast and smooth, very easy to shoot. Just could not get used to that "THUUUNNNGGGG" every shot.
I have one it is 43# I draw around 27.5 mabe a little more I havent had it long. 472grn arrow 170fps 425grn arrow 178fps I have some 39# limbs on the way for it. they are a smooth shooting bow.
Mike not sure what "THuuuung" is as I have one that is as quiet as a mouse p.....on a cotton ball. How was it set up as they are really one of the few high performance bows I have shot that is real quite.

I had problems with the grip moving in my hand. I put a rubber grip on it and now the more I shoot it the better I like it. Bob
62" ACS CX
50lbs at my 28" draw. 530 grain axis 400's with 175 grain tip cut 29". 177 fps. Lighten the arrow up a bit and she'll breath fire!
I traded a 62" 53#@28 that would put a 540 grain Goldtip over the chrono at 183fps at my 28" draw. I liked the bow but, shot it about as consistent as the weather. LOL
Mike can you explain what your talkin about because every ACS that i have ever shot was as smooth as any bow out there.
I was messin' with mine a couple of weeks ago. I had noticed several people who had limb savers on their limbs. Sometimes mine seemed a little loud. So I twisted the string up until the brace height was 7 3/4. What difference. Very quiet now. I don't worry about the loss of 1/2 inch in the power stroke. My draw is 30 inches. Gary
I shot this weekend with Larry Hannify at Compton. He brought out the new carbon bow, i have never heard any bow that was so quiet! They also gained in performance... again! If you are shooting below 50# you might want to try their skinny string set-up, it will gain you more fps. I shoot ACS not for the speed but because it shoots a heavier arrow as good as a bow that's 5-10# heavier. My 50# ACS shoots a 520gr arrow right at 180 but i also draw 30" so that helps :D
I do have a Chronograph and have test it on them, however I don't have the figures to hand and I certainly don't want to be quoting incorrect figures.
But they are fast, especially the lower poundages, nothing I have every shot has come close to matching the speed.
I have had mine for about 2 months and I absolutely love it. I bought it based on reputation alone as I had never seen one before. I, like you, wanted a lighter draw that would shoot as fast a bow of 5-10 lbs more. I truly believe I found it. One of the earlier posters said the ACS is not the fastest out there - well I would like to know what is faster? Please tell me.
Mine is ultra accurate, stable and VERY quite. This is what most notice - the lack of a significant report on upon release of string.
My buddy and I took ours to a local shop to chrono and the guy in there said...."let me guess, 165fps" as he was pulling out the machine. I just smiled at him and said "I hope not"!
My 50lb@28" 3 piece 64" shoots a 29.5 inch Goldtip 55/75 of 425 grains at 195fps. My buddies arrows were Carbon Express and his bow is a 51lb at 28 but he pulls about 29" with his 66" ACS so is about 54lbs. He was getting an honest 205fps with his 460 grain arrow. To me, these bows are the best available!

I have three 3pc ACS bows and one 1pc-they all shoot great, fast, smooth and quiet. I find comparing arrow speeds unproductive as there are too many variables especially if you are shooting by hand. A really good release is worth 10 fps over a medium one. A good string makes a difference too.
That said, I dropped from 58# recurves to a 50# ACS without giving up any performance. You really need to shoot the bow a fair bit on your own to find what is right for you.
