This has been a couple years in the making for Cade. He's been tagging along with Me and my 2 bowfishin' buds Gary and Timmy K.
I've been holding him back from shooting because I wanted to make sure he was ready, and could the handle equipment.
Wednesday afternoon, was to be his first "hunt"!
Joining us would be Gary, and tg'er "Glenbo". I got Glen out for the first time last weekend and he was determined to get his first fish after getting a couple shots this past weekend.
Cade was extremely excited to be carrying a bow for the first time. We talked about how things hopefully would happen. We hoped to get real close to a fish that wasn't very deep(hopefully right on the surface).
We also talked about when he hit one, not to pull to hard as his barb probably wouldn't be too far in the fish with the weight he was shooting. I knew it would take some finesse to land one of these hard fighting fish!
Cade "waiting"...

Be right back.....
You're killing me here...
:coffee:
Can't wait for more
Jeremy
Glen was the first to get a shot. He was moving in a fish up ahead of him, when this one to his left revealed itself...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PONQkqHWIXY
Right after this we jumped in the truck to try another spot. It wasn't long at all and we were seeing active fish.
Glen's next shot was right on the money! He had his first carp with a bow. Before the "hunt" was over, he landed his second as well. Here's a couple pix from his camera...

He said..."I was smiling on the inside" :biglaugh:
Cmon Curt you can't keep us waiting on a Friday!
Hang in there....
Right after Glen shot his first, we(Cade, Gary, and myself) moved in tight on another active fish. Take a look at Cade's "almost" 1st shot...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yszHZCr0gP8
After that Cade's excitement was at an all time high, as well as mine...I was really diggin' this!
We decided that we'd be better off looping around and working our way upstream. As we were just getting back down to the river Gary let us know that there was a fish working right in front of us real close to shore.
It was a perfect scenario...high weeds on shore that would allow us to get close to the edge, the fish was very close to shore just off the weed line, and was revealing itself in the shallow water. This was going to be good!
Have a look/listen...

I was so proud of him!! His very first shot ever, and he drilled it! I couldn't believe it!
But as you can see in the video, his excitement overtook him and he did what anyone's instinct would have told them to do....Yank!
More coming...
Guru those last two links are for the same vid . . . HOWEVER I went to your channel, and watched the other!!!! That was a good shot, and some great footage, the excitement was awesome!!!
We were having the time of our lives!!!! It always amazes me to see him "take another step". Like he said, "I'm a bowfisherman now".
Yes you are buddy!
It wasn't long before he had worked in on a couple more active fish...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxl0YOzlb-Q
The evening ended without Cade bringing his first to shore. But all that did was make him more determined than ever. Of course he had to fall in at least once.....
All the way home all he did was talk about how much fun he had, and when we could try again!
He also said that now he's ready to go with Mr. Receveur!
So Terry buddy, the only reason I haven't taken you up on your invite to go with you and the family bowfishin' was because I was waiting for Cade to join in on the fun.
"We're" ready now! :notworthy:
Thanx Chris, edited with the right clip...
Hot summer day.......fall'n in is half the fun when your his age!!!!! :wavey:

Hey Curt that is just so awesome :jumper:
Not only a bow fisherman but a celebrity as well. I got to watch the JLMBH 09 yesterday and there was Cade, now again today on Youtube! Whats next,,, the sportsmans channel??? :clapper:
Wahooo! How cool is that Cade? I'd say way!!!!!!!!
Thanks Guru for taking us along on the birth of a tried and true bowfisherman!!!!!
Congratulations! Cade!!!!! You did awesome little buddy!!
Sunday may be Father's day but for men who live their lives for and with their children the way Guru does, everyday is "Father's Day"!!!
I doubt all the money or stuff in the whole world could make a greater gift than what this father and son shared!!
Glenbo, good on you too my friend! How very awesome that you were allowed to be along to witness this precious father/son memory in the making.
Way, way cool!!!
Thank you again!
Your Humble Servant
God bless,Mudd
Cade your the man.
Way to go little buddy!!!!
Thats awesome! Congrats to all, especially you Cade. Turning into one heck of a fine young man.
Way top Cade!! :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
and Dad :clapper:
Awesome Cade! You are definitely a bowfisherman now! Trust me, you don't have to arrow a fish to be a bowfisherman. I took a guy out last week and he had 30-40 shots and just couldn't bring himself to "aim low". You just tell me when you want to go Cade and I'll get the boat gassed up and batteries charged.
I know that Bridge. I caught about a 30 smallies there one day during a flood.
Like Terry said. I took a guy out who couldn't bring himself to aim low although he did hit one fish it was a far shot.
Looks like a great day out. Nice videos thank you for sharing.
The boy looks as if he is darn near 18 y/o. Growing up quick and starting to have that look. Getting serious about this big boy stuff!
Being a man doesn't have to be all about driving fast cars or being the star football player. Getting your hands dirty and having some real life skills is what its all about. One of these days Cade is going to talk his friends into bowfishing or some other outdoor activity instead of going out and getting in trouble.
Nice work as usual Curt! Taking the time to include them is what its all about.
Whoo Hooo!!! Right on Cade! (and right on Daddy too!) Going to bed with a smile glued to my face tonight, that was good stuff
Thank you all for the great responses...Cade is on top of the world!
We went again this morning...more later...
I'll be watching This must be good. I know we had the perfect day for it!
Well I guess I should have said he's on top of the world because of everyone's previous comments....not because of today...
Nice shootin little man.... lefties seem to have the nack...
Make sure you're nice to Dad tomorrow. You keep growin' and pretty soon you'll be a lawnmower...er too.
Kids, carp and bows always make for some good fun.
Oh man that was great Curt and Cade. I can relate to Cade as I have recently geared up myself and my wife with 2 Bear '76'ers and AMS reels. For my B-day last week we took the kids to a close-by area and we got on some 10+ lb carp. My little 5 and 2 yr olds were having a blast on daddy's shoulders watching it all.
We are taking the camper for 3 days on Wed. to a premiere carp lake and they should be spawning. It should be good to say the least, and hopefully my wife will score her first bow kill.
Thanks for taking us along Curt. That pic of Cade all wet makes me miss those rivers of my youth. They run a bit warmer than in these parts and felt "good" fallin in.
:bigsmyl:
Congrats guys! Good shootin Cade...
Curt that was Awesome congratulations to both Cade and you.
Perfect shot Cade! Congrats on your first!
Haha, good stuff Curt.
Update....
Cade and I went out with Gary K. Saturday morning. It was a beautiful morning, but the fish were not very active and willing to reveal themselves...
Gary got a couple shots a brought in one nice carp(no pix though).
I spotted a fish under a branch hanging off the shore...got Cade on the fish and told him we'd both shoot. I would release after he did.
If he did hit the fish, and extra arrow would help him land the fish in case his arrow pulled out.
My arrow hit the water right after his and instantly we could tell one of us had hit it. I wish I could say it was his arrow in the fish. But it was mine...
First time I've ever been disappointed to hit a fish :(
But he did get to fight it with my rig(not a real active fish because of the shot placement)...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le9S19KRHG4
Still a very happy camper!
They were releasing water at the dam and the water was rising quickly making it hard to spot fish...
A team effort!

Mark, We're sure looking forward to seeing you again as well at Muzzy :archer2:
Looks like this weekend he's gonna have a great chance to get his first fish. We're going out with Terry (Indianabowman) for a night bowfishing trip on the Hudson.
Still a little concerned that his outfit isn't packing enough punch...but I'll keep my fingers crossed, and I'll also try to get another arrow into any fish he shoots.
Keep you fingers crossed for him ;)
Good Luck Curt. I'll try to leave some fish in the Hudson for you just like I did the Wallkill. :goldtooth: I will give you the report!
Way to go Cade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
